Is he a czar or not a czar? And didn’t the left love czars just a few short years ago?
Former Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli has reportedly been tapped by the Trump White House to take on a role at the Department of Homeland Security to help ensure the administration’s policies on immigration are being carried out.
The New York Times reported Cuccinelli would take an “immigration czar-like role,” but CNN said he would not be a czar — President Trump has reportedly been talking about appointing an “immigration czar” for months.
And still looking, according to Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs:
Trump is going to tap Ken Cuccinelli for a Homeland Security Dept post to work on various matters, including immigration, per a WH official. Separately, Trump is still looking for an immigration czar. Has spoken to at least three people about czar job, two people tell me.

Either way, with the southern border overrun by illegal immigrants, many of them women and children from Central America, and with the administration forced to release tens of thousands of them, realizing that better than 90 percent will never return for their eventual hearings, an extra set of hands could come in use.
Cuccinelli, who met with the president in the Oval Office on Monday, is being billed as “a politically savvy immigration hardliner,” so he should be a welcome addition in dealing with the full-blown national crisis.
“NEWS: Trump expected to tap Cucinelli for immigration czar-like role, but based out of DHS. Cucinelli has been calling people and saying he’s expect to go into admin. Met w POTUS yesterday,” tweeted The Time’s Maggie Haberman — the paper was the first to report on Cuccinelli being hired.

The Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey tweeted that the White House confirmed the report — adding a little intrigue, of course.
“White House official confirms NYT story that Ken Cuccinelli is joining Trump administration,” Dawsey tweeted. “Says he’ll be working at DHS on immigration. Official won’t say exactly what he is doing or who he will report to.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan is currently serving as Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, and there has been speculation that Cuccinelli could be a permanent option, sources say.
Cuccinelli served as attorney general of Virginia from 2010 to 2014 and wrote a key legal opinion in 2010 supporting the rights of police to ask the immigration status of anyone they stop rather than just people they arrest, the U.S News & World Report reported.
And make no mistake, Cuccinelli, who was a legal commentator for CNN, isn’t liked by Kool-Aid drinking progressives, even if they begrudgingly admit that he’s “smart.”
“Ken Cuccinelli is as hate-driven as Trump, but smarter,” tweeted Lane Brooks. “This is bad news for democracy.”

Fortunately for Brooks, the U.S. is a representative republic and not a democracy.
And while Cuccinelli doesn’t require Senate confirmation, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., is right there with Brooks — the senator cites George Soros-backed Think Progress in his rabid response.
“This is absurd and outrageous – @realdonaldtrump’s new DHS Immigration Czar Ken Cuccinelli once compared immigrants to rats, and lamented not being able to kill rat families in the same sentence. He doesn’t deserve a taxpayer-funded salary,” he tweeted.

It’s been said that America can look to Europe to see its future in a few decades, and with the U.S. struggling with antiquated asylum laws, which is fueling the stampede at our southern border, events in Paris over the weekend should serve as a wake up call for Americans.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants stormed the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Sunday, shutting down a terminal and stopping all travel as they demanded to meet with Prime Minister Édouard Philippe and be given permanent legal status.
“France does not belong to the French! Everyone has a right to be here!” a protester shouted into a loudspeaker.

The only good news, I guess, is that he can finally stop being a mere pundit and get back to what he really does best: oppress minorities.

Upside, we won’t have to see him on @cnn anymore. Downside, he’s going to be awful just like as VA AG.
