Pop star singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha is finding plenty of support from those who appreciate her stance against body shaming. Those in the industry who want their celebs to be picture-perfect are not necessarily in the majority.
On Friday, she posted a bikini photo from her vacation in Puerto Rico, un-retouched, saying, “Here is what a real woman looks like.”
The 29-year-old does not have a lot to be physically ashamed of to begin with, but her sentiments hit a positive note with more than 8-million Instagram followers around the world.
She wrote: “I probably should of photoshopped my stomach and made it look flat. I probably should of photoshopped my legs to make them look thinner. I probably should of made myself look taller and Smoothed my legs. But I didn’t. Society can really fuck with you. Here is what a real woman looks like on Instagram without photoshop.”
Last week, according to Health, she denied that she had ever had any type of procedure after rumors swirled that her butt is fake. She said she thought that was funny. “I’ve never had my butt done. I’ve never had my nose done,” Rexha told the Health writer. “Actually, I have a deviated septum, and I keep getting sinus infections, and I’m scared to get that (fixed). I’m scared to go under the knife — I don’t want it to mess up my nose!”
“Ever since I was little, I’ve been thicker,” she said. “When I first got signed to one of my deals, my managers were like, ‘Are you ready to get into boot-camp shape?’ I was like, ‘Sure! What does that mean?’ They told me to lose 20 pounds, and it kind of messed me up. I went through a point of really not liking myself, and I still have my moments—but I just started trying to be nice to myself and doing things every day. I walk around the house in just underwear and a bra. My therapist told me, ‘You should walk around naked; it helps.’ I’m like, ‘I can’t do that yet!'”
“I see pop stars who are super thin,” Rexha continued. “I could definitely get there. I’ve done it before, where I was 120-something pounds—and I was just miserable. I was always cold, never eating; I had no ass. Now I look at those pictures like, ‘Oh my God, I was so skinny.’ But I wouldn’t go back there. Even for this shoot … a lot of people would probably kill themselves working out. I’ve been not eating perfect or starving myself—I had chicken Parmesan the other night, Thai food the night before. I’ve just been enjoying my life. Then I was kind of bummed because I weighed myself. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, dammit, I gained, like, six pounds, and I have my Health shoot!’ But then I was like, ‘You know what, when will I ever be ready?’ That’s just nonsense. I think you have to do what’s best for you.”
Earlier this year, her proclivity for posing in various racy or risque outfits has gotten her into trouble with her father, she admitted. Watch the story in this Fox News video …

“I think as a woman, I’m trying to be unapologetic and embrace my sexuality,” said Rexha. “In the beginning, it really came from feeling insecure about my body. I was never a size zero or a size two — which there is nothing wrong with that. Every body-type and shape should be celebrated because all body shapes are beautiful.”
Still another well-known 29-year-old, Australian bikini model Karina Irby is receiving kudos for embracing a healthier, more beautiful body after gaining 22 pounds in the last 9 years. See for yourself the transformation she shared in her Instagram account this week …
