CNN’s Jake Tapper targeted what he called a “wild tweetstorm” from President Donald Trump during his show “The Lead with Jake Tapper” on Friday.
“It now seems the General Flynn was under investigation long before was common knowledge. It would have been impossible for me to know this but, if that was the case, and with me being one of two people who would become president, why was I not told so that I could make a change?” tweeted President Donald Trump on Friday.
Newly unsealed Mueller evidence revealed that Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security advisor, was trying to aid the Mueller investigation into getting an obstruction of justice charge against the president.
Tapper went after Trump’s tweet on Flynn and said he does believe Trump was properly warned about Flynn.
“54 words, many of them not true,” Tapper said of the tweet.
The CNN host then honed in on specific statements in Trump’s tweet. He first tackled the line “it would have been impossible for me to know this.”
“It was quite possible for President Trump to know Flynn was under investigation, in part because Michael Flynn himself warned the Trump team about Michael Flynn.” Tapper said Flynn told senior Trump officials he was under investigation.
Tapper also pointed to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as a warning for Trump. Tapper brought up the fact that Trump hired Flynn after Christie claims he warned the president not to.
“Against my strong and heated advice, Donald had appointed that walking car crash to be his national security advisor,” wrote Christie in the book “Let Me Finish.”
Tapper said former President Barack Obama also warned Trump not to hire Flynn. The CNN host did, however, acknowledge that the FBI did not inform Trump that Flynn was being investigated in relation to the Russia probe into collusion in the 2016 presidential election.
In just a few short weeks, we have gone from liberals calling for impeachment over Trump colluding with Russia to steal the presidency to now liberals grasping at straws to create an obstruction case or to at least blame Trump in some way for the Mueller investigation, an investigation that wasted over two years and millions of dollars.
The effort to remove Trump from office over various made up crimes is one of the most outrageous and ridiculous stunts in political history. After years of telling the world that he colluded with a foreign power to steal the election, Trump critics are now arguing that the president obstructed justice by trying to interfere into the investigation into Russian collusion.
Think about how absurd this all is. There are Democrats now trying as best they can to make the case that the president broke the law because he tried to interfere with an investigation that eventually found him guilty of no crime.
The bottom line to any of this talk surrounding the details of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump is that no evidence of collusion with Russia was found. The president was cleared. The Mueller report should not even be a subject of conversation right now, yet liberals know they can’t beat Trump on policies right now so they just continue beating a dead horse.
