New poll suggests most Americans are woefully ill-informed on soaring immigration crisis

According to the latest Harvard/Harris Poll, only two in fifteen Americans are aware of how many illegal immigrants are being apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border. About 76 percent believe illegal alien numbers are significantly lower than they are.

It doesn’t take an actuary to figure out that the reason for that naivety is the abject failure of the mainstream media to report facts. Moreover, it’s interesting to note the scarcity of info available on this poll’s data, other than via a Breitbart report and the raw data pdf published by Harvard/Harris.

The bottom-line shocker … more than three in four Americans incorrectly responded that they believe there are less than 250,000 border apprehensions a year. Fact … experts project that this fiscal year, at the current rate, there will be 863,000 apprehensions. There were more than 100,000 illegal aliens arrested last month alone.

As for how many evade border authorities and enter the country unhindered, well, that’s a whole different level of frustration.

According to Breitbart, since fiscal 2010, the number of apprehensions at the border have been between 300,000 and 500,000.

Amazingly, even among Republican voters, Trump supporters, and self-identified conservatives, 35 percent estimated that just between 10,000 and 100,000 are stopped each year.

Are big numbers that confounding for so many that they make no effort to comprehend them or to retain an understanding of the scope of the crisis? Or is it they are completely shut off from the truth?

Why does the media refuse to report the reality of the crisis? Can hatred of Trump and the “evil” of the wall be that insane as to sacrifice the integrity of the USA?

Consider that when voters were told there were more than 100,000 border stops just last month, the majority of voters … including all political affiliations, said they supported President Trump’s border wall. A total of 48 percent still stubbornly opposed it.

Almost 60 percent of the working class and lower-middle-class Americans support the national emergency declaration … as do 65 percent of American voters who live in rural communities.

The U.S. processes and admits “1.2 million mostly low-skilled legal immigrants to compete against working and middle-class Americans for jobs. The vast majority, about 70 percent, of legal immigration to the country is driven by the process known as ‘chain migration,’ whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S.,” according to Breitbart.

Breitbart reporter John Binder also reported: “High levels of immigration, illegal and legal, put downward pressure on U.S. wages while redistributing about $500 billion in wealth away from America’s working and middle class and towards employers and new arrivals, research by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine has found.”

Here’s a stunning tweet by Binder that points out illegal immigration in April of this year was nine times what it was just two years ago (typo in his original tweet of April 2019 should read 2017) …
