Disgraced former Obama administration officials James Comey and John Brennan are reportedly duking it out publicly in what for all intents and purposes looks a whole lot like a real-life performance of the hilarious Mad magazine cartoon “Spy vs. Spy.”
Except the implications of this “performance” are mad real, pun intended.
This real-life feud over what’s often referred to as “spygate” concerns the infamous Steele dossier. The question everybody wants to be answered is “whodunit,” i.e., which one of these two disgraced officials was responsible for elevating the fraudulent, smear-filled document into undeserved relevance.
According to sources who spoke with Fox News, there exists a Department of Justice email chain from 2016 that shows Comey prematurely pinning the blame on Brennan.
In the email, the then-FBI director allegedly informed his subordinates that then-CIA Director Brennan had requested that the dossier be included in the so-called 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, a report on Russian interference that predated special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian collusion by President Donald Trump.
“Fox News was told that the email chain — not yet public — referred to the dossier as ‘crown material,’ but it was not clear why this apparent code was used,” Fox reported Wednesday.
That’s one point for Comey.
But there’s a catch …
Both stories can’t be true!@Comey told FBI in late 2016 that BRENNAN insisted on including the Dossier in the intelligence community assessment.
But CIA claims COMEY made the recommendation, and Brennan and Clapper objected.https://t.co/dzhy5fjG9V

The CIA claimed in a statement to Fox that the blame actually lies with Comey.
“Former Director Brennan, along with former [Director of National Intelligence] James Clapper, are the ones who opposed James Comey’s recommendation that the Steele Dossier be included in the intelligence report,” an unnamed CIA official said.
“They opposed this because the dossier was in no way used to develop the ICA. The intelligence analysts didn’t include it when they were doing their work because it wasn’t corroborated intelligence, therefore it wasn’t used and it wasn’t included. Brennan and Clapper prevented it from being added into the official assessment. James Comey then decided on his own to brief Trump about the document.”
Some believe this notorious briefing was purposefully designed to be used as pretext for CNN to run a bombshell report outlining the most salacious details of the unverified Steele dossier.
That’s one point for Brennan.
Oh my gosh. Comey tells Trump CNN was “looking for a news hook” to publish dossier allegations. He says this in the briefing of Trump that almost immediately leaked … to CNN … providing them the news hook they sought and needed. WOW. WOW. WOWWWWWW.

However, the CIA’s denial of Brennan’s involvement comes two months after Sen. Rand Paul claimed in a bombshell tweet that a “high-level source” had confirmed to him that “it was Brennan who insisted that the unverified and fake Steele dossier be included in the Intelligence Report.”
He further argued that the disgraced former CIA director should be made to testify.
That’s one point for Comey.
BREAKING: A high-level source tells me it was Brennan who insisted that the unverified and fake Steele dossier be included in the Intelligence Report… Brennan should be asked to testify under oath in Congress ASAP.

Speaking on former White House deputy assistant Sebastian Gorka’s radio show last week, retired U.S. attorney Joe diGenova and his wife, Victoria Toensing, went so far as to accuse Brennan of being responsible for the whole Russian collusion conspiracy theory itself.
“There’s no doubt that John Brennan is the core of the entire conspiracy to spy on domestic political opponents in the United States and to do what he did to frame Donald Trump,” diGenova said. “Brennan has always been an ugly, ugly person politically, ethically, and morally, and he carried it through to an awful degree when it came to Donald Trump.”
“They viewed the president as an immoral vulgarian who should not have the Oval Office and they were going to do everything they could to either prevent him from being elected or to evict him once he had been elected.”
By “they” he meant Brennan and disgraced for Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
Listen:
That’s kind of another point for Comey.
From the looks of it, Comey has a “better argument,” as former Congressman Trey Gowdy pointed out during an appearance Tuesday on FNC’s “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”
The problem is that looks can be deceiving, which is why more information is needed. Speaking on FNC’s “Hannity” a day earlier, Gowdy argued that the best bet moving forward is for U.S. Attorney John Durham — who’s been tapped to investigate the origins of the collusion investigation — to search for emails between Brennan and Comey.
“[T]ell them to look for emails between Brennan and Comey in December 2016,” he specifically said.
Listen:
Dovetailing back to the discussion the next day, Tuesday, on MacCallum’s show, the former South Carolina legislator did note one caveat: It’s possible they’re both guilty.
“Sometimes when you have two people, I can tell from you having been in the courtroom, sometimes when people are blaming each other, they are both right. It’s both of them.,” he said.
“And I think it’s interesting Brennan and Comey right now, the only thing they seem to share is a hatred for Donald Trump. It’s going to be interesting if they begin to turn on one another.”
Neither man has yet commented publicly on this feud, but as soon as they do, expect to witness what could be one of the greatest “Spy vs. Spy” feuds in American history.
