‘Beauty fades, stupid is forever’: Fox News’ Dagen McDowell lowers the boom on Ocasio-Cortez

The dirty little secret no one talks about is that much of the appeal of Rep. Alexander Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is that her misguided socialist views come wrapped in a pretty package that’s easy to pull off when you’re 29 years old.

Few are willing to acknowledge that in today’s hypersensitive world, fearful of being labeled a sexist, but Fox News host Dagen McDowell is happy to call a spade a spade, as seen during Tuesday’s edition of “Outnumbered.”

The discussion was on former Vice President Joe Biden being well out in front in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary — in part because of the support he enjoys from black voters — when liberal co-host Juan Williams credited Ocasio-Cortez with the focus on environmental policy.

Ocasio-Cortez is behind the radical Green News Deal and she took what appeared to be a fierce shot at Biden while speaking at a rally Monday in Washington, D.C., as she continued to push her doomsday analogy to force people to sign on.

“I will be damned if the same politicians who refused to act then are going to try to come back today and say we need a middle-of-the-road approach to save our lives!” she declared.

“That’s one of the things that’s pushing Biden right now,” Williams said of the black support. “On AOC, just very quickly — the idea that we’re all talking about the Green New Deal environmental policy, that’s her doing.”

“But as a laughing-stock,” co-host Lisa Boothe chimed in.

And that’s when McDowell stepped in to lower the boom.

“I will make you feel better,” she interjected. “Beauty fades. Stupid’s forever.”

“Well, I can’t argue that one,” Williams replied.

McDowell took a second swipe at Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance as she posed what seems on the surface to be a ridiculous question, does the socialist’s endorsement matter for those running for president — keep in mind she was tending bar a year ago and has been in Congress just 5 months.

“She is a socialist from New York City. She photographs well and she speaks with her hands, but beyond that, does she matter?” the Fox News host asked.

“Yeah, she matters,” Williams answered appropriately. “And I will tell you why she matters, we’re in a social media age and I think her Twitter account is second only to President Donald Trump. So she appeals to a lot of young people.”

Which may not say much for the American electorate in the year 2019.

For what it’s worth, Ocasio-Cortez has 4.16 million Twitter followers, while President Trump comes in at a robust 60.3 million followers. There are plenty of others who top Ocasio-Cortez’s numbers, but most are not in the political arena.
