IHOP’s Mother’s Day ‘pancakes in the uterus’ tweet becomes steaming hot PR mess

Mother’s Day apparently needed a fresh source of tasty outrage, so IHOP served up a hot steaming pile of it … at least in the minds of social-justice warriors with hair-trigger tempers. One site actually used this headline to describe the inhumanity of it all:

IHOP Traumatized the Internet With Its Mother’s Day Tweet of a Pancake-Filled Womb

That terror-conjuring banner came courtesy of ADWEEK. Gotta’ get those clicks, you know.

In reality, the tweet was harmless. Probably not the most socially conscious, as many pointed out, given the ongoing national debate about abortion bans.

The tweet read: “If you have pancakes in your tum tum, does that make you a pancake mum mum? Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the moms out there!” The accompanying image was a sonogram image showing a huge stack of pancakes.

A clearly outdated, once oft-quoted proverbial expression said: “There is no such thing as bad publicity.”

Wrong. In the age of social media stampedes, a tone-deaf company can get flattened … or pancaked, if you will, and IHOP has gotten a taste of that.

No rest for the feary, teary, outrage-weary SJWs.

The holiday tweet by IHOP had some wondering if it meant IHOP would impregnate the unprotected.

Most responding tweets would be seen as far more offensive than the IHOP tweet, but that’s the game and how it’s played out there.
