Lindsey Graham advises Don Jr. to ‘call it a day’ and blow off subpoena, even as Dems lay out penalties

On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Maria Bartiromo that he would advise the president’s son not to testify again to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“If I were Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer, I would tell him, you don’t need to go back into this environment anymore,” Graham said. “You’ve been there for hours and hours and nothing being alleged here changes the outcome of the Mueller investigation. I would call it a day.”

Bartiromo’s interview of Graham began when she said that it was amazing that Trump was elected. She said, “It really is extraordinary that we had the American government might, the power of the American government working against (the President) … the DOJ, the FBI, the State Department, NSA … you have promised to do a deep dive into the FISA abuse.”

Graham indicated he was waiting for Inspector General Horowitz to complete his report. But one “bombshell” this week was uncovered in that Christopher Steele went to the State Department in October of 2016.

In a leftist Raw Story commentary posted yesterday, author Terry Schwadron complained that there is not enough that can be done to enforce legislative actions against the executive branch in the current political environment. However, he did suggest that there are four potential possibilities …

  • Criminal prosecution. Well, that would require referring cases of contempt to the attorney general, who already has shown he is disposed to ignoring factual findings towards prosecution of the current administration. In any case, he is not going to order prosecution of himself.
  • Civil court enforcement. This is more possible, but history suggests that such cases would take months or years to settle and that judges are wont to ask the governmental agencies involved to settle their troubles.
  • Congressional Jail. It turns out that Congress has a jail, but the prospects of sending a Capitol police officer to arrest the attorney general seems far-fetched. Subjecting a prisoner to C-Span speech excepts by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and others seems unduly harsh. And in any case, how does this resolve the issues?
  • Fines. This seems to hold the most promise. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), head of the House Intelligence Committee, floated a $25,000 a day fine during an interview with Rachel Maddow. But most cabinet members are millionaires—some billionaires—and such a fine might seem as heavy as say $1 a day for you and me. Perhaps the number should be something sky-high, like $100,000 a day or $100 million a day. By the way, who would collect the money and where would it go? And who pays the bill if it is the White House claiming executive privilege over the testimony—Donald Trump? McGahn? Mueller? Barr?

A report in the Washington Post estimates that President Trump is under 20 separate investigations. With that in mind, along with the fake media continually pummeling him and the people in his administration, it’s nothing short of amazing to realize the unprecedented level of positive change and productivity Trump has inspired across the nation.

The Post article is just one more of the latest propaganda pieces from the left aiming to slow the advance of conservatism in the government. Note the “sky is falling” tone here …

“Trump’s noncooperation strategy has shifted from partial resistance to all-out war as he faces mounting inquiries from the Democratic-controlled House — a strategy that many legal and congressional experts fear could undermine the institutional power of Congress for years to come. All told, House Democrats say the Trump administration has failed to respond to or comply with at least 79 requests for documents or other information,” the report states. “The president is blocking aides from testifying, refusing entire document requests from some committees, filing lawsuits against corporations to bar them from responding to subpoenas and asserting executive privilege to keep information about the special counsel’s Russia investigation from public view.”

Most conservatives agree that enough is enough. Ignore the left’s game playing and get busy with the nation’s work.
