Ocasio-Cortez puts her foot down over Biden’s ‘middle ground’ climate change plan, says it’s a ‘dealbreaker’

Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t appear to be a fan of former Vice President Joe Biden, a man whom many suspect is the only 2020 Democrat presidential candidate who even has a chance in hell of defeating President Donald Trump.

Yet despite Biden being the most “electable” candidate, according to polling data and liberal and conservative commentators alike, the young congresswoman has repeatedly bashed him.

Her latest attack was posted Friday evening, when she slammed him via Twitter for trying to pursue a climate change policy that isn’t as glaringly radical and unrealistic as her own climate proposal.

“This is a dealbreaker,” she wrote in response to a Reuters story about the climate change policy Biden’s currently drafting. “There is no ‘middle ground’ w/ climate denial & delay.”

“Blaming ‘blue collar’ Americans as the main opponents to bold climate policy is gas lobbyist 101. We’re not going to solve the climate crisis w/ this lack of leadership. Our kids’ lives are at stake.”

She isn’t alone in her criticism:

AOC is among the slew of radically far-left Democrats who believe that American society must be completely restructured, lest the world grinds to a halt in exactly 12 years.

Biden meanwhile intends to pursue a more “reasonable” plan that calls for reentering the widely panned Paris Climate Agreement and reinstituting the Obama-era regulations that Trump has repealed.

To appease blue-collar Americans, his plan would “also be supportive of nuclear energy and fossil fuel options like natural gas and carbon capture technology, which limit emissions from coal plants and other industrial facilities,” according to Reuters.

The goal would be to appease both radical environmentalists and everyday Americans. But according to Ocasio-Cortez and others like her, trying to appease both sides is a big no-no.

Some of her followers seem to agree:

Conservatives meanwhile took joy in seeing AOC bash the 2020 contender yet again.

Right before Biden entered the race late last month, she admitted in an interview with Yahoo News that she was less than enthusiastic about his then-upcoming candidacy.

“I can understand why people would be excited by that, this idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama, with Obama’s vice president,” she said dismissively.” There’s an emotional element to that, but I don’t want to go back. I want to go forward.”

She admitted though that she’d support whoever ultimately won the Democrat nomination. That may not necessarily make a difference. Though Sen. Bernie Sanders eventually dropped out of the 2016 race and endorsed Hillary Clinton, a number of his supporters voted for Trump anyway out of spite. What if the same thing were to happen again this time, in part because AOC had convinced the Sanders’ wing of the party that Biden doesn’t take climate change seriously?

Listen to her Yahoo News interview below:

This Democrat infighting could potentially wreak havoc for Democrats come the actual 2020 election. Like one liberal critic of AOC tweeted, “Well, if Trump wins re-election we’ll wish we had middle ground.” And the more that the Democrats fight, the more likely he’ll indeed win reelection. And it just so happens that the entire party is more fractured right now than a broken leg.

“Some on its left flank insist on nothing less than full support for a Green New Deal, single-payer health care or disbanding Immigration and Customs Enforcement. … There are also Democrats who believe that a white or male nominee can’t fully grasp the plight of Americans most vulnerable to discrimination. And there are Democrats averse to nominating a septuagenarian or a ‘coastal elite,'” The New York Times warned in an opinion piece two months ago.

And then there’s Ocasio-Cortez, who, despite winning the election in New York with only 15,897 votes, has — thanks to the media’s endless promotion of her, ironically enough — effectively become the Democrat Party’s thought leader and spokeswoman.

Conservatives meanwhile are loving every minute of this infighting:

Biden’s camp has for its part pushed back on Reuter’s report, with a spokesperson claiming the former VP views climate change as an “existential threat” that must be tackled “in a meaningful and lasting way.”
