Ocasio-Cortez ‘astonished’ by Trump-supporter’s note outside her office. Her description draws skeptics.

Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez drew some skepticism from critics on social media Friday when she claimed in a Twitter thread that a supporter of President Donald Trump had shown up at her office to praise her for being so “genuine and fighting for us.”

“About an hour ago, I was walking out of my office for the day,” she wrote. “There was a man what I believe was his teenage son hanging a small sign they made outside my office (we let people leave well wishes on our wall). Astonishingly, his sign read: ‘Trump supporters for Ocasio-Cortez.'”

She snapped a picture of the sign:

Critics responded with mockery and accusations that she was lying:

She and the president boast completely opposite worldviews. Whereas he believes in free-market economics, for instance, she believes in socialism. And whereas conservatives in general believe in resolving alleged climate issues through technological innovation, she believes in resolving them through top-down government intervention. Yet the man allegedly supported them both.

Puzzled by the dichotomy, AOC then pressed for an explanation: “With all respect sir, how do you manage to support both of us at the same time?” she asked.

“I’ve been saying for years that climate change is our most important crisis. You’re one of the only ones who‘s been willing to be decisive on it,” the gentleman allegedly replied. “I like you. I can tell that you are genuine and fighting for us. You’re real and you get it.”

What’s even odder than the man’s conflicting views is how Ocasio-Cortez chose to use this information. Instead of perhaps using it as a call for unity, she seemed to exploit it to push back against the growing belief that certain Democrat presidential candidates lack “electability.”

“All of this is to say don’t let any politician, no matter the party, lecture you about what is ‘possible’ or ‘electable,'” she wrote. “Don’t ever let a politician imply that working people are ‘less-than’ or ‘uneducated’ – aka that they are the ones in the way of solving the climate crisis.”

The second statement was ironic given that just four months ago a congressional Democrat from Georgia accused Trump supporters of being broke, uneducated “deplorables” addicted to alcohol, drugs and racism. AOC never condemned those words. Nor has she condemned the countless left-wing commentators who’ve made similar declarations time and time again.

Look at the rest of AOC’s thread below:

Did this really happen? Perhaps, though it’s understandable why some are skeptical …

Not only does it seem nonsensical for someone to support both Trump and AOC, but the way the congressman used the alleged incident to come out in support of poorly performing presidential candidates such as Sen. Kamala Harris (whose “electability” has been questioned by everyone, including even her own supporters) reeked of political chicanery.

Granted, the alleged AOC supporter did have a point about her being so “genuine.” She has shown no qualms about expressing her sincere beliefs, no matter how inane they may be.

Still,  it all seems so odd and perhaps a bit contrived? One social media theorized that perhaps the gentleman she encountered was a clever Trump supporter hoping to goad her into running her mouth more and thus embarrassing the Democrat Party even further:

Like AOC herself pointed out, ironically enough, anything’s possible!
