Bill Kristol, neoconservative RINO turned liberal fake-news hack, got a lot of attention on Wednesday by tweeting a 2012 clip of Sen. Marco Rubio taking then-Attorney General Eric Holder to task for being held in contempt of Congress, saying he should resign.
Kristol implied that the shoe is on the other foot today, with AG William Barr up for contempt before Congress. Kristol’s play is of course pure political theater, with a sharp contrast in circumstances between the two episodes.
The full House will vote on whether to find Barr in contempt of Congress due to his non-compliance with the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee’s subpoena to provide an unredacted copy of the Mueller report and other subpoenas.
On the other hand, seven years ago, Holder refused to turn over documents related to a federal gun sting operation that allowed illegal firearm sales to be carried out, ostensibly in the hope of tracking the purchases back to Mexican cartels. An unknown number of people were shooting victims involving the “Fast and Furious” guns, including a U.S. agent.
In the two-minute Rubio video, he said, “No one can be above the law, not even the Attorney General.”
“I think an attorney general held in contempt of Congress is someone who should resign,” Rubio added.

Sen. Rubio tweeted back to Kristol that, “If like Eric Holder William Barr ever authorizes a program like #FastandFurious that gives drug dealers guns subsequently used to kill a U.S. agent, lies about it & then refuses to provide Congress information, he should resign.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper shared Kristol’s tweet while admitting the comparison between Holder and Barr is “not perfect.”

17 House Democrats joined Republicans in holding Holder in contempt, because he refused to release *thousands* of pages of information.
Barr is refusing to release specific classified information from a ~400 page report in its entirety.
