Showboating CNN commentator Phil Mudd must be trying to get hired at Fox News after seeing the left-wing network’s disastrous recent TV ratings.
That’s the scuttlebutt on Twitter by people who can’t believe that Mudd actually attacked Democrats for their gross mishandling of U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s Congressional hearing yesterday.

‘A Lesson in the Powerlessness of House Democrats’
In a stunning turnaround, the Trump-bashing former FBI agent blasted Democratic lawmakers for “overreaching” in their clownish interrogation of Barr before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The general consensus was that the interrogation helped Democratic presidential candidates like Kamala Harris score political points, but was ultimately ineffective.
Why? Because the partisan harangues resulted in Attorney General William Barr deciding — at the last minute — to not appear before a House committee hearing today (May 2). And there’s nothing Democrats can do about it.
If they subpoena Barr, he can just gleefully ignore it — which is exactly what Barack Obama’s attorney general Eric Holder did when Republicans subpoenaed him.
Phil Mudd: Democrats Are Being Petty
“[This is] “a real lesson in the powerlessness of the House Democrats,” said CNN pundit Jeffrey Toobin.
Phil Mudd agreed, and chimed in:
“If I were [Bill] Barr, I would tell Jerry Nadler to pound sand. I would tell him to hit the road.
Let me give you a couple of reasons why. Biggest hearing you might have in your entire chairmanship, and you’re too lazy to learn the portfolio well enough to ask your own questions? And your members don’t have the discipline not to sit here and speak without asking questions? Really?
And my second question: Who was elected by the American people to oversee the Department of Justice in the most important investigation they have? Was it the members, or was it some lawyer that you want to set up Barr with?
This is a set-up. I think it’s petty and I think the Democrats are overreaching. If I were Barr I’d say, ‘I’m going to get martinis, have a good time. Have an empty chair. I’m not going.’”
Phil Mudd Threatened Trump on Live TV In 2018
Perhaps Mudd is whistling a different tune after coming under fire last year for threatening President Trump during an unhinged rant on live TV.
In his shocking outburst, Mudd bellowed at Trump in February 2018:
“The FBI people are ticked! If you think you can push us off this because you can intimidate the director, you’d better think again!
You’ve been around for 13 months. We’ve been around since 1908. I know how this game is going to be played! We’re going to win!”

With his unsettling on-air threat, Mudd inadvertently confirmed conspiracy theories about the existence of a Deep State cabal trying to overthrow a duly elected president. It’s unclear how good an FBI employee Mudd once was, since he’s obviously terrible at keeping secrets.
When Mudd did that, scores of Trump supporters mass-reported him to the Secret Service. It’s not known if Mudd was ever investigated, but he sure sounds de-fanged.
