Omar reportedly complained directly to Twitter’s Dorsey about Trump’s tweet. It didn’t go her way

Rep. Ilhan Omar got to vent to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey about a tweet from President Trump that she claimed  incited violence against her.

But the Minnesota congresswoman was likely not happy with Dorsey’s response as to why the tweet was never deleted as he reportedly spoke to her by phone on Tuesday, according to  The Washington Post.

The Muslim lawmaker alleged that Trump’s tweet from earlier this month, which featured a video of the Democrat’s comments about 9/11 with a photo of the attack on the World Trade Center, sparked a surge in death threats against her. But Dorsey, who met with the president in the Oval Office on Tuesday, reportedly told Omar that the tweet remained because it did not violate the company’s rules.

The Twitter chief also noted that the tweet and the video had been seen and shared outside of the social media site, a source told The Post. But Omar was also told that Twitter needed to do a better job removing hate and harassment from the platform.

“During their conversation, [Dorsey] emphasized that death threats, incitement to violence, and hateful conduct are not allowed on Twitter,” a spokesperson for the tech giant said in a statement confirming the call had taken place. “We’ve significantly invested in technology to proactively surface this type of content and will continue to focus on reducing the burden on the individual being targeted. Our team has also consistently been in touch with Rep. Omar’s office.”

Omar’s office declined to comment to The Washington Post.

The freshman congresswoman and her supporters slammed the president after he posted the video in response to her comments at a CAIR meeting in California last month, referring to the 9/11 terror attack on the United States as “some people did something.”

“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” she said, referring to the Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Trump’s tweet, declaring “WE WILL NEVER FORGET!” has been viewed over 10 million times and sparked hysteria from the left accusing the president of inciting violence against the freshman congresswoman who dismissed the terrorist attack that claimed nearly 3,000 American lives.

Omar’s Muslim colleague in the House, Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, defended commentsby her “sister” who was “uplifting people by supporting their civil liberties and civil rights,” and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi demanded Trump take down his video post.

While the left slammed Dorsey for dismissing Omar’s concerns, other Twitter users called out the congresswoman for not taking a look in the mirror before whining about Trump’s alleged hate speech.
