Rant over ‘racist’ libraries spotlights bigger issue of White Guilt

It’s trendy among today’s liberals to blame white Americans for everything that’s wrong in the world, including global warming, tropical storms, tribal wars on other continents, racism, and sexism in other countries.

This race-baiting grievance mongering has spawned the curious phenomenon of the self-hating white liberal who suffers from pathological White Guilt interspersed with a White Savior Complex.

Virtue-Signaling White Liberals Are Closet White Supremacists

The White Savior Complex is exhibited in liberals’ patronizing approach toward people of color, where they view all minorities as victims that only they — the great White Savior — can rescue.

An excellent example of a self-hating White Savior with White Guilt is Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke.

In addition to using a Hispanic name, Beto recently apologized for being a white man — something he has no control over. It wasn’t Beto’s “fault” that he’s white and male, but he apologized for it anyway — because that’s what’s trendy to do today on the left.

This is a subtle but distinct form of white supremacy — the very thing liberals routinely accuse white conservatives and Trump supporters of being.

Privileged Minorities Who Fetishize Victimhood

At the other end of the spectrum are privileged minorities like crime-faker Jussie Smollett. People like Smollett brainwash themselves into believing they’re victims despite living in the wealthiest, most democratic society on Earth.

They have a massive chip on their shoulder and point fingers at white people in a bid to shame them for alleged “sins” committed long ago by dead ancestors they never knew.

And now, an Asian-American librarian is saying libraries in the United States are racist and promote white supremacy. In a recent blog post, Sofia Leung writes:

“If you look at any United States library’s collection, especially those in higher education institutions, most of the collections (books, journals, archival papers, other media, etc.) are written by white dudes writing about white ideas, white things, or ideas, people, and things they stole from POC and then claimed as white property.

When most of our collections filled with this so-called ‘knowledge,’ it continues to validate only white voices and perspectives and erases the voices of people of color.”

The Library Journal shared Leung’s race-baiting rant on Twitter and promptly drew heavy backlash. The Library Journal later deleted the tweet after being barraged with negative responses.

‘Library Collections Proliferate Whiteness’

Leung claims American libraries promote “whiteness” and marginalize POC (people of color) with their collections of books:

“Library collections continue to promote and proliferate whiteness with their very existence and the fact that they are physically taking up space in our libraries.

They are paid for using money that was usually ill-gotten and at the cost of black and brown lives via the prison industrial complex, the spoils of war, etc.

Libraries filled with mostly white collections indicates that we don’t care about what POC think, we don’t care to hear from POC themselves, we don’t consider POC to be scholars, we don’t think POC are as valuable, knowledgeable, or as important as white people.”

The United States Is Still a White-Majority Country

Here’s a thought: If libraries in the United States contain mostly works of white people, it’s probably because the USA is still a white-majority country. So most of its history was made by white people, and documented by white folks.

As of 2018, non-Hispanic whites comprise about 60% of the population.

Given that statistic — and given that whites made up a vast majority of the U.S. population until just the past few decades — it’s only logical that most cultural institutions like libraries would feature many works by white people. That’s not racist; that’s merely reflecting the country’s demographics.

As the United States has grown more diverse over the years, it has added more books by minority writers.

If Sofia Leung wants to see a library that doesn’t showcase the works of white people, then she should live in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East. Their libraries feature books mostly by Africans, Asians, and Middle Easterners, respectively.

If an American white person went to Asia or the Middle East and called them racist for not spotlighting more works of white Americans in their libraries, they’d be laughed out of town. In the United States, liberals applaud such thinking — at least when it’s used against white people.

If You Hate White People, Don’t Live in a White-Majority Country

What’s ironic is that everyone (whites and minorities) who trashes the United States as racist insist on living here instead of simply going somewhere else. Here’s a solution: If you hate it here, then kindly GTFO and take your toxic whining elsewhere.

In an ironic twist to this bizarre story, a Twitter user accused Sofia Leung of promoting white supremacy by “blackfishing” because her Twitter avatar looks like a black person. Blackfishing is a term used to describe someone who pretends to be black on social media.

This comical karma boomerang proves the old adage that “what goes around, comes around.”
