For two years Democrats and their media allies bandied about the Russian collusion delusion conspiracy theory. But with that conspiracy finally debunked, the conspiracy loving far-left has, it would appear, chosen to seize upon a new and arguably dumber conspiracy theory.
The new conspiracy theory posits that Attorney General Bill Barr’s decision to hold a press conference prior to the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report Thursday afternoon is, in reality, part of a clandestine operation to fool the American people, or something.
“This press conference, which apparently will not include Special Counsel Mueller, is unnecessary and inappropriate, and appears designed to shape public perceptions of the report before anyone can read it,” a slew of congressional Democrat leaders announced in a joint press release Wednesday, demanding that Barr cancel.

The statement was signed by Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chair Adam B. Schiff, Committee on Oversight and Reform chair Elijah Cummings, Financial Services Committee chair Maxine Waters and Foreign Affairs Committee chair Eliot L. Engel. The leader of the pack, Nadler, even held his own press conference.

“Rather than letting the facts of the report speak for themselves, the attorney general has taken unprecedented steps to spin Mueller’s nearly two-year investigation,” he complained.
“The Attorney General appears to be waging a media campaign on behalf of President Trump, the very subject of the investigation at the heart of the Mueller report.”
He added that he may even subpoena the special counsel to testify.
“I assume we’ll probably find it useful to ask Mueller to testify and I assume members of his team to testify, but we’ll have to make those decisions after reading what we get, as inadequate as that may be,” Nadler said, suggesting that even the special counsel’s own report won’t be good enough.
The same sentiment has been expressed on Twitter by both Nadler and his peers both in the Democrat Party and the Democrat Party’s public relations firm, i.e., the entire mainstream media.

Speaking of the Democrat media, MSNBC put together an entire panel of veritable Democrat “reporters” and “pundits” to slam Barr’s press conference and accuse him of being a “shill.”
“It’s extraordinary, though, this announcement … that the country’s attorney general will present the 22-month-long Mueller investigation to the country,” network host Nicolle Wallace complained.
“It’s just an extraordinary leap into not just the President’s political and legal prerogatives, I guess a leap Barr has already made. But to be a shill … he becomes the first cabinet secretary to plunge into the deep end of Trump’s conspiracy pool.”
It’s unclear what “conspiracy” Barr is perpetuating by holding a press conference …

As for nearly everybody in America who’s not a deeply partisan left-winger, the reaction to the reaction has involved some laughter, some mockery and some rolling of the eyes.
“In case you were wondering which stage of grief the D.C. press corps is in regarding Trump’s election/Mueller’s no collusion finding, they’re currently melting down because the attorney general they want to question is holding a press conference where they can ask him questions,” Sean Davis, the founder of The Federalist, tweeted in amusement on Wednesday.
Responding directly to Nadler’s complains of being “deeply troubled” by Barr’s actions, New York congressman Lee Zeldin wrote on Twitter that he personally is “deeply troubled” by the Democrats’ nonstop obstruction and illogical conspiracy theories.

Meanwhile, House Freedom Caucus chair Mark Meadows has warned reasonable Americans that Democrats and their media allies most likely intend to double down on their conspiracy theories, desperate to keep their long-running collusion delusion alive:
The Mueller report will confirm there was no collusion, but take it to the bank: Democrats will double down. They’ll continue selling this hoax. Even when none of the classified evidence they’ve been promising appears to exist.
