38k American veterans still homeless, but sanctuary cities want to take care of illegal immigrants

Many major “sanctuary cities” are coming forward to say that they plan to accept all illegal immigration without restraint. This, in spite of their inabilities to address U.S citizens’ homelessness already within their jurisdictions.

In total, there are an estimated 550,000 who are homeless in the United States. Of those, 38,000 are military veterans, according to a Breitbart report.

Last week President Trump said that he was considering busing border crossers and illegal aliens into sanctuary cities and states, such as California and New York City, in order to relieve some of the overwhelming pressure on border officials and facilities.

Earlier last week, the President tweeted: “Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only.”

On Saturday the President tweeted, “The USA has the absolute legal right to have apprehended illegal immigrants transferred to Sanctuary Cities. We hereby demand that they be taken care of at the highest level, especially by the State of California, which is well known for it’s poor management & high taxes!”

This morning Trump tweeted …

Oakland, California, Mayor Libby Schaaf responded to the challenge by tweeting, “Oakland welcomes all, no matter where you came from or how you got here.”

As of 2017, there were almost 3000 homeless individuals in Oakland, an increase of 25 percent over the course of two years. Throughout California, there are nearly 130,000 homeless, to include 11,000 veterans.

Mayor Bill de Blasio wasn’t excited about the Trump proposal but he did say that he wanted illegal aliens to be able get driver’s licenses, which would of course draw plenty of illegals to the state. He said, “Undocumented immigrants are our neighbors and part of the backbone of our economy. It’s mind-boggling that they aren’t allowed to have driver’s licenses in New York State.”

Homelessness in New York City is reaching levels not seen since the Great Depression. There are nearly 64,000 people in the city who do not have a place to call home, including 15,000 families and 23,000 children. More than 1200 veterans are homeless in New York state.

Democrat mayors of sanctuary cities such as Chicago and Philadelphia have said they will be happy to welcome all undocumented immigrants.

“As a welcoming city,” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said, “We would welcome these migrants with open arms, just as we welcomed Syrian refugees, just as we welcomed Puerto Ricans displaced by Hurricane Maria and just as we welcome Rohingya refugees fleeing genocide in Myanmar.”

Burlington, Vermont, Mayor Miro Weinberger said that illegal aliens were vital to making his city “more prosperous” and “more diverse.”

More than 300 jurisdictions across the country are self-proclaimed immigration sanctuaries, to include cities, counties, and eight states, as reported by USA Today.

According to Breitbart, “The U.S. admits more than 1.5 million illegal and legal immigrants every year — the overwhelming majority of which are low skilled workers who compete for jobs against America’s poor, working, and middle class. The Washington, DC-imposed mass immigration policy drives housing costs up for Americans, economists have found.”
