In a stunning first, on Tuesday socialist congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez managed to exasperate both liberals AND conservatives with her bizarre fact-free tweeting.
First she annoyed conservatives by accusing them of boasting “fear & resistance to immigrants,” and then she irritated both conservatives and liberals by blaming the migrant crisis on climate change.
It’s assumed she meant the migrant/border crisis affecting the U.S.
“The far-right loves to drum up fear & resistance to immigrants. But have you ever noticed they never talk about what‘s causing people to flee their homes in the first place? Perhaps that’s bc they’d be forced to confront 1 major factor fueling global migration: Climate change,” she wrote.
Look:
The far-right loves to drum up fear & resistance to immigrants.
But have you ever noticed they never talk about what‘s causing people to flee their homes in the first place?

Conservatives took issue with the young congresswoman’s tweet because, one, they have no issue with immigrants who earned entry into the United States the proper way. Immigrants such as an Iraqi man known only as “Johnny Walker.” For six years the Iraqi native worked as an interpreter with the U.S. Navy SEALs. For his service, he was awarded citizenship earlier this year by the Trump administration. FYI, “Walker” supports President Donald Trump’s tough but fair immigration policies.
And two, conservatives believe the migrant crisis is being driven by both the corrupt policies of Central America’s socialist dictators and the freebies being offered by Democrat legislators:
Or it could be socialism. The icebergs haven’t melted yet. But South American economies run by socialist dictators have flooded everywhere with immigrants….

No crazy lady. They are fleeing crime and bad economies. Socialism and big Government in the countries they come from causes the economic problems. They are living prove that your socialist dreams are a nightmare for others.
— JimVaVet (@jim_va_vet) April 10, 2019
Are you saying they’re leaving their countries because of climate change? They’re fleeing socialism, which you want to implement. Wow, you’re dumber than I thought, and I didn’t think that was possible.

Have you ever lived in South America? It’s been in existence for centuries. Hundreds of years of corrupt socialist governments. They flee cuz they can’t fight the corruption. SOCIALISM DOESN’T WORK!! Get your facts correct prior to posting your continuously displayed ignorance.

They flee socialism. They flee corrupt dictatorships.
— MarkAvi2 (@MarkAvi2) April 10, 2019
Theyre fleeing (domestically) because of taxes (like your parents move from NY to FL).
Other people flee cause of Islam! that’s obvious. Others flee cause of socialism and then others flee cause they’re stupid and lazy and want free stuff cause of a schmuck like you. Free free!

But as noted earlier, AOC’s tweet also drew backlash from her fellow leftists. Why? Because they believe that the United States’ longtime free-market-oriented foreign intervention in Central America is what’s responsible for turning most of the region’s nations into veritable hellholes.
While this theory may sound bizarre, it’s been touted by the mainstream left.
“The migration crisis stems … from American economic development policies designed primarily to promote goals — including anti-communism, unregulated foreign markets and, later, drug control — that have exacerbated the poverty, despair and violence such policies were supposed to alleviate,” a contributor with The Washington Post opined in a column last year.
It appears this theory is shared by a wide number of liberals:
You misspelled american military intervention.
— Whit (@whitwt) April 10, 2019
I thought you were going to talk about 30 years of American intervention in Latin America but okay.
— David (T-Bone) Trojan (@DeputyTrojan) April 10, 2019
Climate change is a huge problem for us all, but I think human rights violations enacted by reactionary militant governments sponsored by CIA-facilitated wars in Central America are more immediately to the point here.
— Adrian Auler (@AdrianAuler) April 9, 2019
What about wars caused by USA? Each country the USA has touched it has become worse than before in a lot of ocasions.
— Juanfran (@Jxfran9) April 10, 2019
God dam @AOC I was thinking you were going to say something clever and truthful not global warming. US imperialist intervention caused the refugee crisis not global warming.
— Hulk Hogan (@HulkHog07639163) April 10, 2019
Socialism isn’t the problem, it’s constant US intervention and theft. For Venezuela in particular, the biggest problem is the fluctuating oil economy.
— Franswaa (@JDFranswaa) April 10, 2019
@AOC : While I agree with you that we must first find the reason for the mass migration of people from this region to The USA, Your reasoning that it’s due to climate change is about 25% correct. It’s The USA’s longstanding Foreign policy that”s driving it. It’s complicated #AOC!
— Collin La Mey (@collam1020) April 10, 2019
Is there any merit to this theory? Perhaps.
According to Al Jazeera, back in 2009 then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “threw her support behind the 2009 Honduran coup that ousted democratically elected Manuel Zelaya.”
Honduras has been a hellhole ever since.
Watch:
In 2006 then-Democrat presidential nominee Clinton congratulated herself on a job allegedly well done: “We managed a very difficult situation without bloodshed,” she reportedly said.
Yet according to data, murder in Honduras skyrocketed by almost 50 percent after the coup …
Regardless, according to Fox News the primary factors spurring the migrant crisis “violent crime and extreme poverty,” both of which have been exacerbated by Central America’s socialist policies, some of which admittedly exist because of intervention by the likes of Clinton … and Obama.
