‘Won’t have it’: Meghan Markle reportedly wants royal baby raised vegan, hits Queen Elizabeth’s last nerve

Meghan Markle may be finding out the hard way that Queen Elizabeth will be having the last say in the decisions being made around the soon-to-arrive royal baby.

Prince Harry and his new wife have reportedly “outraged” the British monarch who is not a fan of the idea of raising the couple’s baby as a vegan, Woman’s Day reported.

“Meghan wants her baby to be raised a vegan,” a “palace-insider” told the publication.

The 37-year-old’s nutrition and healthy lifestyle may have rubbed off on her husband of nearly a year but the 92-year old Queen is not on board with the notion of her great grandchild being brought up in the Windsor household eating only plant-based foods.

“The Queen won’t have it,” a source told Woman’s Day, which noted the Queen’s well-known love of hunting.

“It’s created tense discussions between Meghan and Harry, who doesn’t want to upset his grandmother,” the source added. “He’s hoping Meghan will settle once the baby comes and he’s putting this latest polarising idea down to heightened emotions while being pregnant.”

The Duchess of Sussex has ruffled royal feathers with her apparent disregard for the staunchly held traditions of her new royal family with Elizabeth who, on the throne since 1952, is the sixth-longest-reigning monarch of all time.

“Meghan keeps pushing the boundaries with the royals and it’s not being well received, least of all by HM,” the insider told Woman’s Day. “Meghan seems to have little regard for royal traditions but bringing the baby up as a vegan simply won’t be tolerated by the monarch.”

The former “Suits” star has apparently also opted to break protocol on the birth of “Baby Sussex” who is expected to arrive in a few weeks. Markle has reportedly opted to use her own doctors for the birth instead of sticking with the tradition of using the Queen’s team of medical professionals.

According to Woman’s Day:

She plans to give birth in the public-funded Frimley Park Hospital, closer to their home at Frogmore Cottage, instead of royal favourite St Mary’s Hospital Lindo Wing.

She’s also hiring a doula instead of a midwife and plans to engage her lifelong practice of yoga to help during labour, too.

“It is slightly surprising. These people [the queen’s doctors] are the best of the best and when it comes down to it, their role would actually be very limited in the birth itself, assuming all goes to plan,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“Meghan said she doesn’t want the men in suits. She was adamant that she wanted her own people. It did leave a few of us a little baffled,” anther insider said.

The royal households gynecologists, Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston, have attended the births of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children as well as even the births of Princess Diana and Princess Anne.

Adding to the gasps Markle must be prompting from the royals, she reportedly told guests at her baby shower that the baby will be raised to be “gender fluid,” according to Vanity Fair.

“Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby. Her exact word was fluid,” a source told the publication. “She said they plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won’t be imposing any stereotypes.”

According to Vanity Fair:

The duchess is understood to have told at least one friend that they want to raise their baby without gender-stereotyping, which means the nursery might not be filled with toy trains and cars if it is a boy. The Sussexes have already planned a gender-neutral nursery and opted for whites and grays over conventional blue and pink color ways, and this seems to be in line with Meghan’s ideas about how to raise children.

The couple will likely be updating the universe with all of the “Baby Sussex” happenings on their newly-launched Instagram account which smashed a Guinness record by gaining 1 million followers in less than 6 hours.
