Actor Rob Lowe, a former liberal, mocked the manufactured leftist hysteria over a potential avocado shortage if President Trump closes the border.
Trump made the threat in response to the multiple caravans from Central America that are stampeding toward the United States to demand entry.
When asked by TMZ how he’d cope if there were an avocado shortage, Lowe sarcastically quipped: “That would be a national tragedy. What would hipsters eat? Are we going to have Live Aid for the hipsters?”

Rob Lowe’s snarky response shows that he couldn’t care less if he didn’t eat another avocado again if closing the border meant safeguarding U.S. sovereignty.
This is significant because Lowe is a longtime adherent of the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet. Avocados are an approved/recommended staple of the Atkins diet. But Lowe isn’t sweating it — and neither should you.
Fact Check: No Avocado Shortage if Trump Closes Border
Liberals are fomenting faux hysteria, claiming the United States would run out of avocados in three weeks if President Trump closed the US-Mexico border to stem the tsunami of illegal migrants.
However, the media are once again pushing fake news. In fact, there wouldn’t be an avocado shortage if Trump closed the border, Fox News reported:
“The news media are hyping avocados the most because they think that will strike close to home with people. But…avocados wouldn’t disappear even if the border was closed for months.
“Mexico grows about 34 percent of the world’s avocados, and they account for almost half the exports. But other major producers include the Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia and Chile.
The United States imports fewer avocados than the European Union, Canada and Japan combined. If the U.S.-Mexico border is closed, avocados that would have shipped to these other countries would be shipped to the U.S., while the avocados that Mexico normally sends to the U.S. would now go to other countries.
The price of avocados could go up a little, since it’s more costly to ship from South America. But we wouldn’t run out of avocados or any other foods.”
Liberals More Concerned About Guacamole Than Sex Trafficking
Moreover, conservatives say they’d rather never eat another avocado again if closing the border means curbing human trafficking of women and children, and stemming the avalanche of illicit drugs pouring across the border.
Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA quipped: “I will give up avocados for the rest of my life if it means kids aren’t sex trafficked anymore across the southern border.”

Second-Amendments advocate Kyle Kashuv observed that Democrats have their priorities messed-up again.

Former Obama Border Chief: Build That Wall!
The reason why President Trump is considering closing the border is because Congress refuses to overhaul immigration loopholes that allow illegal aliens to stay in the United States.
The situation is exacerbated because Democrats refuse to give Trump funding to build a border wall — which has been proven to stem border crossings.
Mark Morgan — the former chief of Border Patrol under Barack Obama — says the US must build a wall to stem the avalanche of illegal immigration and illicit drugs. Morgan declared unequivocally that walls work.
Mark Morgan and other border-patrol agents have repeatedly pointed out that in parts of the US border where there is fencing, border crossings are almost nonexistent.
“Congress could fix this [border crisis] in 5 minutes if they wanted to.
Before I was the chief of Border Patrol, I was with the FBI. And I actually supervised the MS-13 gang force in Southern California.
We used to catch them on surveillance wires and MS-13 gang members would laugh at how easy it was to go back between the Mexico and U.S. border [because there was no wall].”
