Soledad O’brien crushes Stelter’s whining about CNN getting bad rap: ‘literally you gave a platform to fake news’

Seeing CNN be accused by conservatives of peddling fake news is nothing new. It happens practically every single day. Seeing CNN be accused by liberals of peddling fake news, on the other hand, is a pretty big deal. And yet that’s exactly what’s happened, stunningly enough.

It happened Friday after CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter, known for his own flurry of fake news, tweeted a Variety story about CNN chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour.

During a “Power of Women” ceremony hosted by Variety magazine Friday, Amanpour reportedly warned that President Donald Trump’s habit of labeling media outlets “fake news” over the left-wing propaganda and actual fake news they publish is somehow dangerous to democracy.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

“Amanpour cited the shocking statistic that ‘deliberate targeting is the leading cause of death for journalists’ as she was feted Friday at Variety’s Power of Women NY presented by Lifetime. She noted that the anti-press attitudes found in developing nations are spreading,” Variety reported.

“Increasingly we are in a war from within our own democratic societies where we are bludgeoned over the head day after day by this untruthful trope of fake news. It is very, very difficult to keep going,” she continued, adding her personal mantra is to be “truthful and not neutral.”

Stelter’s interest was piqued by these remarks because he’s a big believer in the conspiracy theory that Trump’s criticism of the media is indicative of his alleged authoritarian ways.

Moreover, as someone whom some would describe as a “left-wing propagandist,” Stelter is either unable or simply unwilling to accept the media’s own culpability for the “fake news” moniker they now carry. They’ve been pushing shoddy “reporting” for years now, but he won’t admit it.

Stelter’s attitude isn’t surprising, as he’s a part of the media establishment. What is stunning is the anger his tweet provoked from another member of the establishment, Soledad O’Brien.

Look:

It’s unclear what “segment” she was speaking of. Her remark may have been in reference to a segment last month in which former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio briefly spoke about his continued belief that former President Barack Obama was not born in the U.S.

Regardless, the fact that O’Brien — a fairly-left “journalist” herself who last year first tried to victim-shame Fox News host Tucker Carlson for being harassed at his home and then tried to shame the president for not visiting to visit the troops overseas (he did) — is stunning.

She wasn’t the only one to slam CNN.

Look:

Amanpour is also the same radically left-wing “journalist” who appears to believe that those of the president’s supporters who playfully chanted “lock her up” during his presidential election campaign rallies should have been apprehended and potentially thrown in the hole by the Justice Department.

O’Brien’s response, in particular, may have been personal. She worked with CNN for nearly a decade but was abruptly terminated when Jeff Zucker took over the network’s president in 2013. Many feel as if she was removed unfairly.

Within the past two years she’s taken several shots at her former employer:

Her biggest beef with CNN is its alleged lack of racial diversity. Hundreds of racial discrimination lawsuits have been filed against CNN over the years by former minority employees who’ve alleged the far-left news purveyor discriminates against blacks.

Of course, judging by its track record with “reporting” the “news,” it seems like the network also discriminates against facts, reason, logic, common sense and, you know, the truth!
