Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., just can’t help herself, it seems.
A la Hillary Clinton, the self-declared democratic socialist unpacked a previously not heard accent Friday evening while speaking to a predominantly black audience at the annual convention of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.
An accent that took on a curious southern drawl…
“This is what organizing looks like,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “This is what building power looks like. This is what changing the country looks like. It’s when we choose to show up and occupy the room and talk about the things that matter most, talking about our future.”
She also told the room it’s OK to work menial jobs, as if they’re incapable of aspiring for more or haven’t already achieved more. And to prove that she is down with their working-class selves, Ocasio-Cortez reminded them that she was a bartender.
“I’m proud to be a bartender. Ain’t nothing wrong with that,” she said. “There’s nothing wrong with working retail, folding clothes for other people to buy. There is nothing wrong with preparing the food that your neighbors will eat. There is nothing wrong with driving the buses that take your family to work. There is nothing wrong with being a working person in the United States of America and there is everything dignified about it.”

The only thing missing was the hot sauce in her purse, and who knows, perhaps there was a packet or two there.
Needless to say, Ocasio-Cortez was mocked unmercifully online on an otherwise slow Friday night. Even Glenn Beck weighed in on her patronizing efforts.
“They dare lecture the right about treating people with respect,” he tweeted. “Does #AOC actually believe that this fake accent makes her more likable, powerful or authentic. If they can’t be true to who they really are how can you trust them when they are talking down to you?”

Not that her skills weren’t appreciated.
Unbelievable how talented @AOC is…
Just one week ago she had a completely different accent, she picked a brand new accent in less than seven days.
Amazing! https://t.co/BI0xZgSmd0

Either way, mocking Ocasio-Cortez for her latest blunder or ill-conceived stunt is becoming a favorite sport in America.
So much so that the self-assured Bronx Bolshevik is beginning to get a little sensitive on us. Check out her blocking moves:

How did Ocasio-Cortez respond?
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
She finally blocked me and it was after I called out her latest set of lies pic.twitter.com/9mjrBBjDVv

The “lies” Saavedra refers to is her claim that she used the same accent while speaking at the Woman’s March and a speech on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — he posted videos of those two occasions for social media users to make up their own minds if she was telling the truth.
The new “voice” of the Democratic Party took to Twitter to tell her antagonists to “step off,” saying her duplicity is standard operating procedure.
She also played the victim card, saying it was “hurtful” that people called attention to her speaking down to the audience.
The suddenly sensitive socialist tweeted: “It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me.”
As much as the right wants to distort & deflect, I am from the Bronx. I act & talk like it, *especially* when I’m fired up and especially when I’m home.
It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me, yet somehow asserted as false at the same time.

If there was a surprise here, it was that Republican strategist and pollster Frank Luntz decided the Ocasio-Cortez hill was a good hill to die on, as he came to her defense:
She’s drawing out syllables at the end of her speech here too.
Different microphone EQ doesn’t mean different accent. pic.twitter.com/QfmWQGT2Ez

As for the ridicule, as previously mentioned, it was unmerciful:
Rep.@AOC received private tutoring lessons from Hillary Clinton in “Black People Voice Technique” before she spoke at Al Sharptons conference. She had a bottle of hot sauce on standby in her purse in case she needed it.

No. The victim card can’t help you on this. You were using a fake accent to seem relatable. We all heard it. You know it. Take this L with some dignity.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is speaking in front of a predominately Black audience, and she is using this weird “Ebonics” accent in her voice.
She damn near sounds like Diamond & Silk#lol
I’m surprised she didn’t end her speech with “can you jive turkeys dig it”.
