The right is often criticized for calling Democrats out for being “unhinged” when it comes to President Donald Trump, or for putting an emphasis on the “deranged” in Trump Derangement Syndrome, but a revelation by comedian Chelsea Handler put that all to rest.
In an appearance Friday night on HBO’s “Real Time,” Handler told host Bill Maher she had to see a shrink after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016, saying her life never felt “so unhinged.”
How bad was it, given that the liberal media had all but declared that Trump had no chance of winning?
Bad enough for Handler to turn on and drop out – though we suspect that the left-wing zealot had an affinity for weed long before Trump.

“I had to pay a psychiatrist to listen to me b*tch about Donald Trump for about the first three weeks,” Handler told Maher. “And then once when we got past that and got to the real stuff, I realized the parallel there was my world becoming unhinged when I was a little girl, my brother died when I was nine years old. I had never related the two, but for me, as I can imagine it must have been for so many people, it was an emotional trigger of everything being destabilized and I realized how spoiled and privileged I had been all my life and realize to be this upset and this on-a-ten every day and the outrage and the anger, I just wanted to f–king fight people, you know? And I was like, ‘I have to go see a psychiatrist.’”
That’s an awful lot of self-reflection to sell her new book, which is what the gig was all about.
And if all that wasn’t heavy enough, prompting a Trump-inspired “midlife identity crisis,” Handler is also straddled with the burden of “white guilt,” a curious affliction that seems to only afflict those left-of-center.
She told Maher that she learned in therapy that she believed as a white person, she didn’t have “the right to be in pain.”
To his credit — somewhat — Maher pushed back a little to say of white people, “We’re kind of like self-flagellating ourselves and it’s not helping.”
That elitist liberals think they have the authority to speak for all white people being a marvel all its own.
Handler tells us she’s now “woke” and it’s because Trump “led” her to smoking weed, explaining that getting stoned over getting drunk provided her with a “gateway drug to meditation.”
As he has a way of doing, actor James Woods summed up the interview perfectly in two words: “Sweet Jesus.”

And while mental health is a serious issue, we can rest assured that Handler appears to be getting professional help.

I see your country has what our country calls Liberals/Democrats down there. Isn’t there an island we can send both to and they can live happily ever after in their wonderland of delusion?? Asking for a friend……..

Everybody’s repulsive actions are President Trump’s fault. Trump creating toxic environment made Smollett act out, said another. They need to all consider leaving the country before 2020; they won’t be able to handle it.

Did it also make her not funny, or was that a pre-existing condition?
