Socialist congresswoman and unofficial April fool Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appears to be engaging in hypocrisy again, as evidenced by the unflattering remarks she made Thursday evening on late night TV about President Donald Trump.
During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” she described the president as a nematode, a nasty type of roundworm known to infect humans, animals and plants, depending on the specific species.
She made the remark while speaking with host Seth Meyers about her alleged passion for science.
Listen:
That she referred to the president in a “mean” way wouldn’t normally be notable, given the age-old adage, “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.” Plus, unlike liberals, conservatives aren’t known to be snowflakes.
The problem is AOC’s continued hypocrisy. On Wednesday she posted a Twitter tirade against Fox News, complaining that prominent Fox News hosts have been purposefully disrespecting her.
Her beef was initially with host Laura Ingraham, who a day earlier had allowed a guest to jokingly mock her Latina name and accent. Keep in mind that the guest, conservative lawyer Joe diGenova, also mocked his own Italian name and accent.
“She does the Latina thing where she does her, you know, ‘Anastasio Ocasio-Cortez,'” he said, misstating her name with an exaggerated accent.
He then said his own name with an exaggerated Italian accent.
“And I assume she’s going to love that when I do that,” he added.
Listen:
Though his remarks were clearly meant in jest — just like AOC’s remarks about Trump — the congresswoman threw an online fit, first complaining about diGenova’s remarks and then adding additional complaints about Fox News hosts allegedly saying her last name wrong.
Look:
“How dare they refuse to say their name in a wrong accent & not mangle their own family name so that I can feel more comfortable instead of look inside myself & examine why something as small as *a person’s name* makes me uncomfortable in the first place?? This is an outrage!” https://t.co/ArYd28WVcv

By the way: Fox News likes to say my name (incorrectly) as “Cortez,” which I can only imagine is bc that sounds more ‘stereotypically’ Hispanic + probably incites more ‘anxiety’ for them.
Pro Tip:
My last name is not “Cortez,” just as theirs isn’t “Ingra” or “Carl” or “Hann.”— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 21, 2019
My last name is Ocasio-Cortez. Full stop. That’s my name.
No, you can’t say “Cortez.” I’ve never used that in my life. “Cortez” is referring to someone else.
Even if they‘re trying to be rude + wrong, my dad’s last name was Ocasio anyway.
(His name was hyphenated too, though.)

The first complaint was somewhat hypocritical or at the very suggestive of a double standard. It’s unclear why she thinks that diGenova gently mocking her (and his) accent and name is apparently wrong, but she referring to Trump as a disgusting roundworm is perfectly fine.
Some would argue that in an ideal world, all joking/comedic comments would be acceptable. Thanks to the political correctness championed by Democrats such as Ocasio-Cortez, however, such a world doesn’t exist anymore.
The second complaint may have been another flat-out lie. AOC is known to tell many of them.
An investigation by Grabien Media founder Tom Elliott revealed that not once thus far this month has either Ingraham or fellow Fox News host Sean Hannity referred to the congresswoman as Cortez.
Look:
You may be unsurprised to learn that this is untrue. I checked every mention of “Cortez” on the Ingraham Angle in March and didn’t find @IngrahamAngle referring to @AOC as “Cortez” once. On 3/14, Rabbi Aryeh Spero said “Cortez and her quartet,” but Laura never did. https://t.co/MRhGnYxQFH

Just checked @seanhannity, whom she also accuses of this ostensible hate crime. Like Laura, Hannity did not refer to @AOC as “Cortez” once in the month of March (I checked every show). She’s mentioned 20x in one episode, but every time correctly.

Unless @aoc has something to back up this claim, it would seem she owes apologies to Hannity and Ingraham. Randomly accusing people of prejudice is indecent, esp when it will inevitably be used for more boycott fodder.

The only person I’ve noticed who obsesses over AOC being Hispanic is AOC herself. It’s a constant topic. Conservative media generally focus on her overzealous Green New Deal, her sketchy campaign finance issues, and her frequent hypocrisy.

The Daily Wire uncovered similar results about host Tucker Carlson.
“[I]t appears Carlson doesn’t refer to the New York representative as ‘Cortez,’ either,” the conservative publisher noted Thursday.
“When the ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ host did a five-minute-plus segment on the democratic socialist Tuesday night, for example, he mentioned her name over a dozen times; he referred to her as ‘Ocasio-Cortez,’ ‘Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,’ ‘Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez,’ and ‘AOC’ (which is Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter handle). He did not once refer to her as ‘Cortez.'”
To be fair, Ocasio-Cortez didn’t cite any specific Fox News hosts in her tweets. Moreover, Hannity, Ingraham and Carlson aren’t the only two hosts on the network.
But given AOC’s propensity for lying, it’s not hard to imagine that her “Cortez” allegation is itself just another made-up myth.
Nor is the hypocrisy she displayed Thursday evening on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” all too surprising, since her short but eventful career has been chockablock with it:
You are such a hypocrite you fly almost every week sometimes twice why is it ok for you and nobody else ?
