‘Not just another old white guy’: Biden reportedly tags running mate to diversify potential 2020 ticket

Desperate to appease the Democrat Party’s far-left, identity politics-obsessed base, former Vice President Joe Biden, who as a reminder hasn’t even declared his candidacy for president yet, is reportedly mulling making an announcement regarding his vice presidential running mate.

How soon? The day he announces his candidacy for office. Keep in mind that 15 months remain until the Democrat National Convention. VP choices are usually made after it.

So why is Biden making his choice so early? So that he can virtue-signal his regressive leftism to the Democrat base by specifically choosing a minority woman as his VP.

“Close advisers to former Vice President Joe Biden are debating the idea of packaging his presidential campaign announcement with a pledge to choose Stacey Abrams as his vice president,” Axios reported Thursday morning.

Abrams is the failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate known for touting conspiracy theories and flat-out lies. To this day she continues to claim that she was cheated of a victory in the midterm elections last year. In fact, she hasn’t even conceded defeat yet:

This is the person Biden would like as his running mate. Never mind her lack of credentials and never mind her insanity. All that matters is her identity as a black woman.

“The popular Georgia Democrat, who at age 45 is 31 years younger than Biden, would bring diversity and excitement to the ticket — showing voters, in the words of a close source, that Biden ‘isn’t just another old white guy,'” Axios’s report continued.

It’s all about identity, which is why this form of contemporary left-wing politics is often derided with the pejorative “regressive leftism.” Thanks to the Democrat Party’s embrace of identity politics, political correctness and racial grievance mongering, it’s become a shell of what it used to be.

This is, after all, the party that went from supporting border security to opposing it, supporting abortion limits to opposing them and supporting colorblindness to viewing it as racist.

To the Democrat Party of 2020, identity is everything. Forget what civil rights hero Martin Luther King Jr. said about judging a man by the content of his character versus the color of his skin. In this day and age, it’s all about color, and sadly for Biden, his color just ain’t right.

Like one left-winger recently wrote on Twitter, “I like Biden, & I think he is well regarded. I think his habit of gaffes won’t hurt his as much against Trump. Still, I prefer someone who is not another white man. I will vote for whoever gets the nom, but I will not vote for Biden in the primary.”

But what if that white man were to tap a black woman as his VP? Then what? Would it perhaps curry favor with the base? Judging by the initial reaction, the answer appears to be no.

Some leftists have accused Biden of trying to use Abrams, while others have wondered why he isn’t being considered as her running mate. Others have dinged him for the timing issue.

Look at some of the reaction below:

They may have a point about Biden using Abrams  though it’d only be par for the course. Since the beginning of America, Democrat political leaders have been using blacks to advance their agenda — first as slaves and now, it would appear, a means to win elections …
