House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was reportedly “taken aback” Wednesday when she discovered that her party is embracing its freshman anti-Semites.
In response to Muslim congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s repeated use of anti-Semitic tropes and stereotypes to smear supporters of America’s closest ally, Israel, the House Speaker introduced a resolution earlier this week to condemn anti-Semitism and scheduled a vote for Wednesday.
Because of pushback from the anti-Semitic congresswoman’s defenders in the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Progressive Caucus, the vote was delayed until Thursday after a closed-door meeting held Wednesday with freshmen and senior House Democrats.
It was at this meeting that the truth apparently dawned on Pelosi:
Fox is told Pelosi was taken aback at Dem Caucus by criticism of anti-Semitism resolution & how it’s being handled. One sr Hse Dem questioned influence of pro-Israel interest grps over the Hse Dem Caucus. This contrasts to push for resolution by Jewish mbrs Deutch, Lowey & Engel

“[O]ne senior House Democratic lawmaker expressed concern about the influence pro-Israel interest groups have over the Democratic caucus, prompting debate about a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism in the first place,” Fox News reported.
The unnamed Democrat basically echoed Omar’s own anti-Semitism by trotting out the age-old trope of malicious Jews (or “Joos,” as renowned conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, himself a Jew, often sarcastically describes his own people) influencing American politics via money.
One of the freshman congresswoman’s first acts of anti-Semitism after being elected into office involved her insinuating via a since-deleted tweet that U.S. politicians are beholden to Israeli money:
Hey @IlhanMN,
Why did you just delete this tweet? pic.twitter.com/6SUGq0JGDI

For a senior House Democrat lawmaker to repeat this trope is stunning.
According to Fox News, the key Democrats to come out in favor of Pelosi’s resolution were all Jewish, including House Ethics Committee chair Ted Deutch, House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Eliot Engel and House Appropriations Committee chair Nita Lowey.
Apparently, the only lawmakers within the Democrat Party who care about anti-Semitism are Jews and perhaps Pelosi as well, though even her willingness to combat anti-Semitism remains in question. Why? Because she’s reportedly tried to downplay Omar’s vile rhetoric.

PELOSI just told us she did not think @IlhanMN’s comments were “intentionally anti Semitic”

The problem is that the House Speaker feels trapped between a rock and a hard place.
“If Pelosi comes down too hard on Omar, she risks alienating progressive lawmakers and outside groups that have rallied to the Minnesota Democrat’s side,” Politico reported Thursday morning. “If she pulls her punches, Pelosi will anger Jewish lawmakers and groups outraged over Omar’s latest remark about pro-Israel advocates’ ‘allegiance to a foreign country.'”
The reason she risks alienating so many parties is because the Democrat Party is demonstrably teeming with anti-Semites, a fact that Pelosi had seemingly been unaware of beforehand.
Whether or not to condemn anti-Semitism shouldn’t even be an issue. After Iowa congressman Steve King made allegedly racist, “white supremacist” remarks two months ago (the evidence suggests that, unlike Omar’s remarks, his remarks were taken out of context), Republicans didn’t hesitate even a second to condemn him and strip him of all his committee assignments.
Nor did Democrats hesitate to use King’s remarks to smear all Republicans. Yet when it comes to them holding their own bigots accountable, mum’s the word. It’s inordinately telling. Unfortunately, such behavior isn’t a rare bug but rather a longtime feature of the Democrat Party.

Dovetailing back to the closed-door meeting Wednesday, Pelosi reportedly grew so frustrated with Omar’s freshman and senior Democrat defenders that she dropped her microphone and stormed out while saying, “Well if you’re not going to listen to me, I’m done talking.”
But had anybody even been listening to her in the first place? Many suspect no, since it’s clear now that, despite her rank, she isn’t the leader of the Democrat Party anymore.
If anything, she’s just a puppet:
The Corbynization of what used to be the Democratic Party is now complete. It is now the Labour Party of America and @SpeakerPelosi is basically a puppet controlled by antisemite @IlhanMN and her defenders @AOC and @RashidaTlaib. pic.twitter.com/dwXLz4wlt6

Pretty obvious who’s running the party at this point, and it ain’t Pelosi https://t.co/BWmsfDgtWB

Pelosi seems to have lost control of her conference. Along with her spine. https://t.co/SFwNVSAIh2

So with the failure to hold Omar accountable for her repeat anti-Semitic Tweet storms, Nancy Pelosi has shown she’s lost control of the House — and her party. Meet the new Democrats/Socialists.

After getting pushed around by freshmen reps in the House, it’s clear Pelosi is the leader in name only. And a feckless one at that.
She couldn’t even pass a toothless resolution condemning vile antisemitism.
Shame on @SpeakerPelosi, @AOC, @IlhanMN and Shame on the Democrats! pic.twitter.com/94kjUkH5TI

Congratulations to Nancy Pelosi, puppet of freshmen

It’s amazing to see someone as skilled and experienced as Pelosi get completely outmatched by a bunch of first term House reps who refuse to condemn antisemitism within the party.

It took less than 3 months for Pelosi to lose control of her party. Just wild.
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) March 7, 2019
Watching Pelosi deal with this is like watching Boehner & MConnell deal with Ted Cruz, except there are 4 of him and all 4 are raging anti-semites. She’s lost the party.
