CNN’s Brian Stelter came to the defense of the DNC decision not to let Fox News Channel hold the party’s presidential primary debates.
But the “Reliable Sources” host should have used a mirror before his stunning spin on why the choice was right.
Tom Perez, chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced the decision Wednesday, pointing to “the inappropriate relationship between President [Donald] Trump, his administration and Fox News.”
“Recent reporting in the New Yorker…has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates,” Perez said. “Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”
Stelter agreed with Perez’s decision and blamed the primetime hosts on Fox News for creating the problem for the network, though he did point to “journalists like Bret Baier who do a good job.”
“But every night in prime time, Democrats are dehumanized. They are attacked relentlessly by Fox News prime time hosts,” Stelter said on “CNN Right Now” Wednesday.
“It was always hard for me to imagine a Democratic primary debate taking place in those hours — when figures like [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Rep.] Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez are constantly demonized and attacked,” he added, apparently oblivious to his ridiculous lack of self-awareness.
Brian should look at what Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo, and Don Lemon do in primetime to conservatives who don’t hate the President, Republicans, and Trump supporters. Talk about left-wing bias and vitriol toward those not on their side — CNN has it!

Fox News Channel had responded to the DNC decision with a request to reconsider.
We hope the DNC will reconsider its decision to bar Chris Wallace, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, all of whom embody the ultimate journalistic integrity and professionalism, from moderating a Democratic presidential debate,” Fox News Senior Vice President Bill Sammon said in a statement. “They’re the best debate team in the business and they offer candidates an important opportunity to make their case to the largest TV news audience in America, which includes many persuadable voters.”
Baier reacted to the news in a tweet on Wednesday, as the president also slammed the DNC and threatened to do the same with the “Fake News Networks.”
That’s really a shame. When it comes to fairness – our news product speaks for itself. We will continue to cover this 2020 race fairly & will continue to invite Democrats- Republicans & Independents on to talk about key issues & substance with our very large viewing audience https://t.co/z0TdftcVmz

Stelter delivered his assessment with a straight face on Wednesday despite his own network’s biased attacks on Trump and other conservatives. Twitter users slammed the CNN host for his ignorant take on the DNC decision.

Hmmm … by this rational NO Republican should ever go on any networks that spend 93% of their reporting SLICING, DICING, EXCORIATING every @GOP including Trump & every associate, cabinet member or nominee!!
— Defund NPR PBS & NEA (@Jarjarbug) March 6, 2019
That’s pretty rich considering that every night in Prime Time, Republicans are attacked and dehumanized relentlessly by Stelter’s network.

Well, well, well… Stelter and Democrats don’t like ONE network “attacking” them whilst all the other networks including Stelter on CNN are doing the same to conservatives. Hypocrite.

I heard him say this live and I blinked many many many times
— David Rutz (@DavidRutz) March 6, 2019
By this logic, the GOP should ban all debates involving CNN, MSNBC, NBC, etc
— Rohan Cassanova (@irishswamp) March 6, 2019
Brian & @CNN are completely void of credibility. Remember Donna Brazil giving answers to HRC? Hope @RNC refuses to grant debates to CNN. Boycott if they allow it.
— State Rep Joe Graves (@RepJoeGraves) March 6, 2019
Weebles should stop watching Fox all night if he’s going to cry like this.
— JWF (@JammieWF) March 6, 2019
So, democrats debates will now only be seen on networks watched by liberal democrats? ??? Wonder how long it will take them to figure out what stupidity has just taken place????
— Thomas Martin (@OuThomasMartin) March 6, 2019
Breathtakingly, jaw dropping hypocrisy far, far exceeding anything I thought Stelter was capable of. And that was a lot! How an the other host keep from cracking up?

CNN has removed every mirror in the building
