Fox News’ Judge Napolitano sides with Trump on Dem mega-probe: it’s ‘almost literally a witch hunt’

Andrew Napolitano agreed with President Donald Trump that Democrats “looking for anything they can find” on him are engaged in what is “almost literally a witch hunt.”

The Fox News senior judicial analyst spoke with Charles Payne, who was filling in for Neil Cavuto on “Your World” Tuesday, weighing in on Democrats’ latest attack on Trump.

Payne felt the sprawling investigation launched Monday by Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., the House Judiciary Committee chairman, targeting even the president’s family, seems like Democrats are “going down any particular rabbit hole and searching for anything in a man’s past that perhaps had nothing to do with the job he’s in right now.”

Napolitano agreed, noting that “the president can do very little about this” as the committee has the “tools” to execute the investigation. Document requests were issued to over 80 individuals and entities with no specific target, other than Trump himself, in mind.

“It’s not specific what Jerry Nadler is looking for, and the president is right,” Napolitano said.

“This is almost literally a witch hunt. They’re looking for anything they can find,” he added, noting that Trump’s tax returns will also be requested. “What do they need his tax returns for? To embarrass him, to humiliate him, to taunt him, to drive him crazy, because that’s what they think their base wants them to do.”

Payne asked about the significance of calls for impeachment by Rep. Maxine Waters in light of Nadler’s probe. The California Democrat has consistently called for Trump to be impeached and tweeted again on Monday that it is “the only answer.”

Napolitano called out Nadler’s investigation as “highly political” but said the congressman along with other Democrats are being more careful by saying “impeachment is off the table until there is broad bipartisan support for it.”

“They’re not crazy, they may want to drive him nuts but if they start impeachment and there is not broad bipartisan support for it, it will explode in their faces,” he said.

Waters “apparently doesn’t feel that way” and is “ready to start the impeachment investigation tomorrow,” he added.

The California congresswoman continued her impeachment rants in other tweets firing up her supporters.

Trump slammed Democrats as “stone cold CRAZY” in a tweet Tuesday.

Blasting the “presidential harassment” he is being subjected to, Trump called Nadler’s investigation the “greatest overreach in the history of our country.”

Twitter users backed Napolitano’s remarks about the “witch hunt” against the president, vowing Democrats will pay in 2020.
