Another violent attack on a MAGA-hat wearer has resulted in the arrest of a New Jersey teenager.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, 19-year-old Ryan M. Salvagno was arrested for allegedly assaulting the man, an 81-year-old wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat who was exiting a store with his groceries, according to NJ.com.

Salvagno reportedly started an argument with the elderly man over his hat and, according to witnesses, continued to harass the man even as he attempted to walk away from the Shop Rite in Franklin Township with his cart full of groceries.

“As the victim turned to walk away, defendant Salvagno was able to grab the victim’s hat and the two struggled for sole possession of the hat,” prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

“Salvagno then took the victim by the arm and threw him to the ground, tipping over the victim’s cart of groceries and ultimately throwing the hat to the side,” he added in a statement.

The unidentified victim suffered minor injuries, according to the prosecutor’s office and refused medical treatment or transport to the hospital. The teen was not on the scene when police officers arrived.

Salvagno was eventualy identified by law enforcement officers and he was arrested two days later and “charged with  assault, a disorderly persons offense, and harassment, a petty disorderly persons offense, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced,” according to MyCentralJersey.

The teen graduated in 2017 from Franklin High and competed on the wrestling team for the Franklin Warriors since 2014, according to Canyon News. He is scheduled for arraignment on March 14 in Franklin Township Municipal Court.

The incident is the latest in a growing list of violent crimes against President Donald Trump’s supporters and comes after the scandal involving “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett who allegedly staged a fake hate-crime against himself, describing his attackers as wearing MAGA hats.

An 18-year-old Oklahoma student could be facing assault and battery charges after his attack on a minor student wearing a MAGA hat and a Trump flag as a cape was caught on video.

Just last month, a Tennessee man was arrested after he admitted that a couple’s MAGA hats in a Kentucky Sam’s Club triggered him into pulling a gun on them as he allegedly said, “It’s a good day for you to die.”

The attack of the 81-year-old man and the despicable act by the teenager were condemned by Twitter users who reacted to the report of his arrest.
