CNN’s S.E. Cupp tells media to bury ‘dumb plot lines’ that make Dems look bad so Trump doesn’t look better

There’s no shortage of alleged principled Republicans willing to offer guidance on how a Democrat can prevail in the 2020 presidential election.

CNN’s S.E. Cupp took care to advise the media Saturday that focusing on “dumb” plot lines that make Democrats look bad only helps assure that President Donald Trump will be reelected.

Playing a clip of Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., “getting schooled by children on the Green New Deal,” Cupp took care to note that the 2020 election is already underway.

“It’s 2020 right now,” she said. “Don’t adjust your clocks. It may say it’s 2019 on the calendar but if you needed any proof that the 2020 presidential election is right here right now, just take a look at this.”

In the clip, a group of school children being exploited by environmental activists is seen urging Feinstein to support the radical Green New Deal — the lawmaker pushed back, telling the kids, “I know what I’m doing.”

Cupp referred to the incident as “Dem on Dem crime,” berating liberals for “posting her edited and seemingly smug response on social media.”

“This kind of stuff is only going to heat up as Democrats try to out-left each other on and off the campaign trail and prove their Progressive bona fides,” she said. “This is a fight for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, yes, but its also, may I remind you, supposed to be a fight for the White House.”

Saying “this kind of stuff isn’t a good look,” Cupp showed recent headlines, to include one about Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., praising breadlines and another about Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., eating a salad with a comb — both senators are running for president.

“If I’m Donald Trump, I’m feeling pretty good about my chances,” she said.

“As long as the media keeps zeroing in on these dumb plot lines, and as long as Democrats spend the next year talking about the things Americans don’t prioritize and as long as candidates sound more like they’re running for president in 1950 Russia instead of 2019 America, Trump’s got this one in the bag and that should be worrisome to Democrats,” Cupp continued.

The CNN went on to suggest that Trump should be easy pickings because he’s “at record low approvals and he’s facing a dozen different investigations,” saying this misdirection “is all good for Trump guys, trust me.”

Cupp then advised Democrats and their media allies on how to beat the president.

“Here’s the deal, instead of playing or right into Trump’s hands, Democrats have to seriously sort out their messaging. Are they running for an audience of one Amazon job killer, [Rep.] Alexandra Ocasio Cortez? Are they running for all of America? Are they gonna kill each other in the progressive primary, only to set up a general election ‘can’t win’ situation? Are they going to uniters or dividers? Do they want to heal the country or do they want to make the country pay?”
