President Donald Trump says he’s not happy with the government funding deal the Democrats offered to avert another shutdown, but is confident the border wall will get built under a Border Security Deal negotiated by Republican Senator Richard Shelby.
‘We Will Get Almost $23 Billion for Border Security’
Shelby announced Monday night that congressional negotiators had reached a deal, but House Republican leaders say they have not seen the details of the proposal. But Trump was enthusiastic about it, and tweeted:
“Was just presented the concept and parameters of the Border Security Deal by hard-working Senator Richard Shelby. Looking over all aspects knowing that this will be hooked up with lots of money from other sources….
Will be getting almost $23 BILLION for Border Security. Regardless of Wall money, it is being built as we speak!”

Dems Did Not Get Reduction in ICE Detention Beds
Meanwhile, here are the details of the proposed government funding deal:
- $3.75 billion to build a wall/barrier along 55 miles of the Rio Grande Valley border. President Trump had asked for $5.7 billion.
- The number of ICE detention beds would be reduced to 40,520 by the end of the year from 49,057. The Democrats had wanted to slash ICE detention beds to 35,000.
At a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, President Trump said he’s not happy with the deal, but expressed reluctance to have another government shutdown. “Am I happy? The answer is no, I’m not,” Trump said. “I’m not happy.”
As BizPac Review reported, President Trump said he will not sign a federal spending bill that would allow the mass release of criminal illegal aliens into the country ― as the Democrats had wanted.
“I will never sign a bill that forces the mass release of illegal criminals into our country. I will never oppose or in any way mistreat our great heroes from ICE, border patrol and law enforcement.”

Hannity: Trump Might Declare National Emergency
Meanwhile, Fox News host Sean Hannity slammed the “garbage compromise” deal because it does not provide adequate funding for a border wall.
Hannity also suggested that Trump will likely declare a national emergency to build the wall, but conceded that Democrats will challenge this move in the courts.
Keep in mind that the No. 1 job of the US President is to keep Americans safe. Accordingly, President Trump has broad authority — guaranteed under the United States Constitution — to take measures to safeguard national security. A president can — at his discretion — declare that the nation is in a state of national emergency.
Hannity said:
“I’m not happy either, nobody should be happy. The so-called compromise is typical of the D.C. Sewer and Swamp, and this level of funding for security and safety of the American people is pathetic.
It is almost as if lawmakers in Washington, from the comfort of their own walled homes, don’t realize the horrors of sex trafficking, human trafficking, the drug trafficking. 90% of our heroin comes across the southern border.
It occurs every single day of every week of every month of every year. It is almost as if they just don’t care. In the past two years alone, criminal, illegal aliens have been responsible for 100,000 assault charges, 30,000 sexual assault crimes. And 4,000 murders and homicides. It is as if they don’t care.
Yesterday, 330 illegal immigrants, including many unaccompanied minors, were apprehended west of El Paso, where there is no border wall.
It sounds like a national emergency will be declared, but I have no insider information.”
Reminder: Former DHS agent says a border wall would drastically reduce child sex trafficking. Why are Democrats opposed to protecting children?
Former DHS agent combating child sex trafficking: If DEMS Cared about children, they’d Want the Wall! Tens of thousands of children are kidnapped & sold into the commercial sex trade & if we had the Wall, this would save these kids from being Sex slaves!https://t.co/0Tp5JyFRhe
