Hello? Omar cluelessly calls to defund DHS one hour after being outraged TSA workers hadn’t been paid

Despite working for the federal government, Muslim congressman Ilhan Omar, a Democrat, doesn’t appear to understand how the federal government actually works. She’s not alone.

Roughly an hour after she posted a tweet Friday complaining about Transportation Security Administration workers not having received their government shutdown back pay yet, she posted another tweet calling for the defunding of the Department of Homeland Security.

Look:

It’s not clear whether Omar, a close friend of equally brilliant congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, realizes that the TSA is a sub-agency within DHS, meaning that were DHS defunded, her friends in the Transportation Security Administration would be receiving no future pay.

Omar is among four radical Democrats — one of them a socialist, two of them terrorist sympathizers and anti-Semites and a fourth an anti-white racist — pining to defund DHS.

“Cut, do not increase funding,” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley wrote in a letter to their colleagues last week. “The deal reached by the Conference Committee should not allocate any additional funding to this department or to the ICE and CBP agencies.”

President Donald Trump prematurely ended the government shutdown last month on the stipulation that “[a] bipartisan conference committee of House and Senate lawmakers” would soon “put together a Homeland Security package” that would address his desire for enhanced border security.

In the letter submitted last week, Omar and her peers argued that DHS should instead be defunded for allegedly abusing its authority. As examples, they cited the child separation scam and even the justified prosecution and deportation of criminal aliens.

The Muslim congresswoman is clearly serious about defunding DHS. What she doesn’t appear to grasp is that if DHS were defunded, the TSA would also be defunded. This means her friends at the agency would either have their hours cut or be laid off odd entirely, as noted by social media:

If only Omar had stopped at her first tweet. Granted, even that tweet had some problems.

The media publication Government Executive has confirmed that “thousands” of employees throughout all of DHS are still awaiting back pay because of an error of some sort. While that may seem like a lot, keep in mind the agency employees hundreds of thousands of people.

“The administration took unprecedented steps to ensure federal employees impacted by the shutdown received back pay within a week and before the end of the month,” an unnamed official noted.

“The challenges of executing a mid-cycle paycheck in record time led to a modest number of exceptions, but the vast majority of affected employees welcomed their back pay on or before January 31, rather than waiting until their next scheduled payday of February 8.”

The relatively few who haven’t received their back pay yet will soon via “three paychecks in a single deposit,” according to the National Finance Center.

The point is that the federal government is jumping through hoops to try and get owned back payout to federal employees. Instead of needlessly stirring the pot, perhaps Omar should have urged TSA workers to remain patient?

Better yet, maybe someone should ask the Muslim congresswomen why she and her peers in the Democrat-led House repeatedly voted down GOP-led attempts during the shutdown last month to pay furloughed federal employees while the then-ongoing government shutdown continued.

The fact that Omar was among the hundreds of Democrats who voted down these efforts suggests she doesn’t really care about TSA workers. She only cares about scoring points against the Trump administration, even if that means leaving her beloved TSA workers unemployed and with no pay at all.
