Chris Wallace flippantly calls Republican angst over Whitaker hearing ‘rich,’ compares it to Benghazi probe

Fox News host Chris Wallace slammed Republicans for calling the House Judiciary Committee hearing of acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker a waste of time by recounting the GOP’s justifiable investigations into Barack Obama’s administration when they were in control of the House of Representatives.

Wallace admitted that the inane Whitaker hearing will not yield any “smoking-gun” evidence that President Trump obstructed justice or had ordered his acting AG Matt Whitaker to do.

Wallace: Dems’ Frivolous Investigations Are OK

However, Wallace ― a registered Democrat ― suggested that Democrats have the right to launch frivolous investigations if they want to, because that’s what he claims Republicans did during the Obama years.

“The degree that Republicans or the Democrats are looking for a smoking gun here that will indicate that the President is interfering, or that Matthew Whitaker is an agent in interfering with the Special Counsel probe ― that doesn’t seem to be much there there.

On the other hand, I do find it kind of rich that Republicans are so outraged that they would be this kind of a hearing of the other party’s president and administration. It’s not like Republicans sat on their hands when Barack Obama was president.

They investigated Benghazi, they investigated Fast and Furious. They investigated the IRS ― and those were are all legitimate issues to investigate. Sometimes they found some things, sometimes they didn’t find things. But that’s part of oversight, and as Barack Obama famously said, ‘Elections have consequences.’

Whether it’s Jerry Nadler of Judiciary, Adam Schiff in Intelligence, or Elijah Cummings at Oversight ― they’re going to make life difficult for members of the Trump Administration. It’s just the way it works.”

Benghazi Was Real, Unlike Mueller Witch Hunt

Of course, Chris Wallace neglects to mention that the GOP-led investigation into Hillary Clinton’s lies about the Benghazi embassy attack by radical Islamic terrorists involved potentially criminal breaches of protocol that led to the deaths of four Americans.

Immediately after the September 2012 Benghazi attack, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lied to the world by falsely claiming the terrorist attack was caused by an anti-Muslim video.

Meanwhile, contemporaneous emails Hillary sent to her daughter from her unsecured, private email server showed she knew it was a terrorist attack. But she lied about it to the American people in order to not hurt Barack Obama’s chances for re-election two months later, in November 2012.

Investigations Are Accusations In Search of a Crime

In contrast, the numerous investigations Democrats have opened into President Trump are all accusations in search of a crime.

In the most egregious example ― the Russia collusion investigation ― the entire investigation was launched on the basis of a phony, discredited “dossier” paid for by Hillary Clinton’s 2012 presidential campaign.

That investigation is still ongoing after two years, even though it has yielded no evidence of collusion or any wrongdoing by President Trump.
