‘Things just got REAL interesting’: Ocasio-Cortez may have a formidable conservative challenger in 2020

Democrat starlet Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s time in the spotlight may not last much longer if gay conservative activist Brandon Straka, the founder of the #WalkAway movement, gets his way.

In a tweet posted Wednesday, the outspoken ambassador of “The Unsilent Minority” announced that he’s considering running against Ocasio-Cortez in New York’s 14th congressional district.

The response he received to his announcement is telling.

“Please don’t be joking please don’t be joking please don’t be joking. DO THIS DO IT DO IT DO IT,” the ladies at Chicks on the Right, a popular conservative blog, tweeted.

Look at this tweet and others — including Straka’s reply — below:

The latter Twitter user was correct: Straka is a former Dem, and that’s exactly what makes him so formidable. He understands the lure of liberalism because for a long time he was one of its victims.

“Once upon a time, I was a liberal,” he announced in a coming-out video of sorts last summer. “Well, to be honest, less than a year ago, I was still a liberal. I became a liberal because I felt I’d found a tribe whose values aligned with my own.”

“I staunchly reject racism of any kind, I reject the marginalization of any human being based off of their gender or sexual orientation. I reject tyrannical group think, I reject a system which allows an ambitious, misinformed, and dogmatic mob to suppress free speech, create false narratives, and apathetically steamroll over the truth.”

“I reject the acceptance of junk science and superstition to advance ideological agendas. I reject hate. These are the reasons why I became a liberal and these are the same reasons why I am now walking away.”

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Straka’s coming out triggered an exodus from the Democrat Party, with former liberals of every stripe announcing on social media that they were done with the party’s bigotry, bullying, discrimination, harassment, hypocrisy, double standards and anti-Americanism.

The problem, as noted by several of the people who responded to his announcement on Twitter, is that his supporters and followers are dispersed across the country. What remains unclear is whether he possesses a strong enough following in New York’s 14th congressional district to beat AOC.

At the moment, Straka likely doesn’t. Were he to jump into the 2020 election for real and spend time scouting neighborhoods and speaking with locals, he could however build a strong-enough following.

Is he for real about going up against AOC, though? And, more importantly, is he willing to put in the work necessary to unseat her? To find out, you may have to tune into “Fox & Friends“:
