Illegal immigrant gets bond after killing fire captain’s son over holidays. Judge calls conviction unlikely.

The illegal immigrant who killed 22-year-old Pierce Corcoran over the Christmas holidays could leave jail on a $3,500 bond this week ― if ICE doesn’t get to him first. Pierce was the son of the Knoxville, Tennessee Fire Department’s chief.

“I can’t just deny him bond because ICE might come get him,” Judge Patricia Long said in her ruling reinstating bond for Francisco Eduardo Franco-Cambrany.

Prosecutors had urged the judge to revoke Franco-Cambrany’s bond to ensure that he stays in jail until trial. However, the judge said she couldn’t do that under Tennessee state law.

Illegal Alien Did Not Have Driver’s License

Franco-Cambrany face charges of criminally negligent homicide for killing Pierce Corcoran in a head-on car crash on Dec. 29, 2018. Police say Franco-Cambrany was driving without a driver’s license, insurance, or proper vehicle registration.

Judge Long said there’s only a small chance that the illegal alien will be convicted because he doesn’t have a history of prior arrests.

”We’re here for a negligent fatal car wreck,” the judge said. “I believe the likelihood of conviction is low, but I’ve bound it over to the grand jury.”

Pierce’s grieving sister, Avery, urged lawmakers to build the wall, saying it could have prevented her little brother’s untimely death.

Pierce Corcoran’s murder mirrors that of Drew Rosenberg, a 25-year-old student was mowed down by an illegal alien.

Drew was riding his motorcycle in San Francisco when Roberto Galo struck him in November 2010. In a frantic effort to flee the scene of his crime, Galo ran over Drew twice, killing him instantly.

After Galo was convicted of manslaughter, he served only 6 weeks in jail and was released. In 2013, he was deported back to the Honduras.

Drew’s grief-stricken father, Don Rosenberg, said this tragedy would never have happened if Galo had not been in the United States illegally.

“[My son] still would be alive if it wasn’t for this illegal immigrant,” Rosenberg said.
