President Donald Trump may be the only person in America who has not weighed in on media sensation Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
The closest Trump came was in response to being asked about Ocasio-Cortez calling him a racist, responding with a definitive “who cares,” along with a dismissive wave of the hand, as one might swat away an annoying gnat, or Bronx dimwit.
The newly elected lawmaker would love the added notoriety that comes from being mentioned by Trump, which puts her in the same company as alleged “Republican” pundit Rick Wilson, who endeavors on a daily basis to draw the president’s ire, only to fall short.
President Trump did take a veiled shot at Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday in responding to events in Venezuela and the typical effects of socialism, as seen in a tweet from Ryan Saaverdra, a reporter at The Daily Wire.
“President Trump takes a shot at Ocasio-Cortez: “We’re looking at Venezuela, it’s a very sad situation. That was the richest state in all of that area…and now it’s one of the poorest places in the world. That’s what socialism gets you. When they want to raise your taxes to 70%,” Saaverdra tweeted.

Though in office a little over three weeks, Ocasio-Cortez, a self-avowed democratic socialist, proposed a sky-high 70 percent marginal tax rate on the highest earners in the U.S.
As for the crisis in Venezuela, more from Fox News:
Venezuela’s government — which in recent years has limited citizens’ access to foreign currency, implemented substantial subsidies and price controls on food and other items, and fallen victim to sweeping corruption — effectively collapsed this week. Some analysts have placed the principal blame on the country’s socialist policies, while others have pointed to fallen oil prices and mismanagement.
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido declared he was temporarily assuming presidential powers in a bid to unseat Nicolas Maduro, whose powerful loyalists went on the offensive Thursday in support of the embattled leader.
Trump boldly announced his administration would officially recognize Guaido as the country’s president after the Venezuelan people rose up, putting Ocasio-Cortez in an awkward spot.

Finding herself in a dilemma of her own making, Ocasio-Cortez has not backed the president or openly condemn the human rights offenses by the socialist Venezuelan regime.
The 29-year-old socialist denounced the president’s move as “non-Democratic,” but the national Democratic Socialists of America have demanded Ocasio-Cortez take a stand against “American imperialism” and the “coup” in Venezuela.
Fellow democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was a little more vocal, saying Thursday that the Venezuela “economy is a disaster.”
He also addressed “violent crackdown” on the country’s citizens.
“The Maduro government has waged a violent crackdown on Venezuelan civil society, violated the constitution by dissolving the National Assembly and was re-elected last year in an election many observers said was fraudulent,” Sanders said. “The economy is a disaster and millions are migrating.”
The reaction to the non-stance from Ocasio-Cortez was summed up best in a single tweet:
