In an interview set to run Wednesday morning, Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student involved in the confrontation with a Native American activist that has swept the nation by storm, was asked if owes anyone an apology.

The high school junior’s answer gives Americans reason to hope that all may not be lost in post-Obama America.

While it may be debatable why Sandmann and his family would dare trust NBC in what is sure to be a highly watched interview, co-anchor Savannah Guthrie asked the young teen about remorse or whether he was at fault in an incident that much of the media got completely wrong.

“Do you feel from this experience that you owe anybody an apology? Do you see your own fault in any way?” she asked.

“As far as standing there, I had every right to do so,” Sandmann replied. “My position is that I was not disrespectful to Mr. Phillips. I respect him. I’d like to talk to him. In hindsight, I wish we would have walked away and avoided the whole thing.”

While the video that went viral shows Sandmann, wearing a MAGA hat, standing before the Native American elder Nathan Phillips with what appeared to be a smirk, additional footage shows that Phillips clearly approached the group of students and slowly waded into the midst of the boys.

But there was much more going on before this encounter, and with more video being discovered, this is just now being reported.

In the new video, another group taunts the students from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky with disparaging and vulgar language. The group of black men, who identify as members of the Hebrew Israelites, also shout racist slurs at participants of the Indigenous Peoples Rally and other passersby.

The new video adds context to an encounter viewed by many as the latest sign of bigotry infecting the country. Screenshots of a smirking teen staring down Omaha tribe elder Nathan Phillips spread through the internet, sparking widespread outrage.

Sandmann mentioned the nearby group of Black Hebrew Israelites in a statement he released Sunday night.

“The protestors[sic] said hateful things. They called us ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’ ‘white crackers,’ ‘faggots,’ and ‘incest kids.’ They also taunted an African-American student from my school by telling him that they would ‘harvest his organs,'” the release read.

Yet, the students were attacked for being racist and the media whipped the nation into a frenzy, resulting in the high school boys being doxxed and threatened with violence online, to include calls for their deaths.

In the end, the incident said more about the media than it did the students involved. The vast power of the liberal media was on full display as it put advancing a political narrative over reporting the facts.

But then, the students proved to be too enticing a target. In fact, they were a trifecta, allowing liberals to smear Trump supporters, pro-life proponents AND Christians all in one fell swoop.

And the interview won’t change much with the hate-filled left, who choose to see what they want to see.

But social media users understand the real focus here should be on the mainstream media’s highly irresponsible actions.
