This week a proud supporter of President Donald Trump turned the tables on a rude anti-Trump Hooters waitress by calling her out to her face about her alleged bigotry.
While it’s unclear when and in which city the altercation occurred, a video posted to social media showed the full aftermath.
The video begins with Internet talk show host and political commentator Tommy Sotomayor, the alleged victim, explaining to other patrons what happened.
“Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I want to point something out to ya’ll. Can I get all ya’lls attention for a second? Ya’ll see that young lady right there,” he says, pointing to a waitress.
“That’s Shay. She’s the waitress for Hooters. Shay walked up to me, saw my hat and said, ‘Are you a Trump supporter?’ Whilst on her job.”
Watch part one of the aftermath below:
According to Sotomayor, the altercation began when one of his friends attempted to order a drink from Shay. But when Shay questioned Sotomayor about his hat and he replied that he is indeed a Trump supporter, she just walked off without taking the order.
“This brother was just trying to buy me a drink. And he told her can she get him a drink. She saw my hat, and the hat was offensive,” he explains. “All I wanted to show ya’ll is that most of the time when ya’ll see me doing these videos, you think I’m making shit up. I’m not. This is real world stuff.”
Sotomayor posts social and political commentary to YouTube. He also performs at shows. Prior to the altercation at Hooters, he had performed nearby. The people immediately surrounding him in the video were in fact those of his fans who’d decided to “party” with him afterward.
In part because they were already fans of his, the folks around Sotomayor completely agreed with his assessment.
“She not supposed to have an opinion. She’s at work,” one says in the video.
Shay however did not seem interested in hearing their opinions. Instead she began demanding that Sotomayor stop recording her.
Watch what happened next:
Sotomayor approaches the manager to talk about Shay’s behavior, only to discover that the manager too happens to be a proud Trump supporter.
“I would wear that hat. Why you making fun of that hat?” the manager says incredulously to Shay. “I’m a big Trump supporter.”
“That’s what we do to us because we wear hats and stuff like that,” he adds.
Discrimination, harassment and violence against conservatives — particularly those who support the president — has become the norm in post-Obama America, in part because of the normalization of such behavior by the Democrat Party and its allies in Hollywood and the media.
What makes the Hooters incident different is that, one, the victim, Sotomayor, chose to turn the tables on the perpetrators, and two, the other patrons took his side.
This rarely happen. For instance, watch what happened when a group of left-wing thugs began harassing Sen. Ted Cruz and his wife at a Washington, D.C. restaurant last September:
Nobody intervened, and Cruz and his wife were ultimately driven from the restaurant. Something similar happened to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family last summer when a Red Hen owner kicked them out of the restaurant no reason.
The owner then reportedly formed a mob and chased Sanders’ family to a nearby restaurant. Following this incident, a CNN commentator defended the Red Hen owner.
Rarely do other patrons — or the left-wing media, for that matter — stick up for the victims. One such rare event occurred last October, when left-wing thugs started harassing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at a Kentucky restaurant.
Much like with the Sotomayor incident, this time the patrons stood up for the victim.
Dovetailing back to Sotomayor, he’s been receiving a lot of support on YouTube, where plenty of other conservatives have had their own discrimination/bigotry tales to share.
“I wear a trump hat all the time, I had a complete stranger tell me to take it off 3 times. I said no 3 times. I get mean mugs about 50% of the time,” one supporter wrote.
“I worked at a gas station for a year and I saw people coming in with naked women on their shirt and nobody said anything, but when one white man and his black and Mexican friend, all Americans btw I’m not detracting from that, came in, someone called the police and said there were three klansmembers at the station trying to rob it,” another wrote.
“When the cops showed up I told them that all three young men were behaving just fine and paid for their snacks and beer and gas and left without any commotion. I’ve had more liberals cause problems than anyone, even the midnight tweakers and the homeless folk were better behaved.”
This, unfortunately, is the reality for many Trump supporters.
