As President Donald Trump addressed the nation Tuesday night from the Oval Office on the critical issue of illegal immigration, Trump-bashing MSNBC served up 29-year-old Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who has been in office five days, as a worthy counter to the president’s message.
And the democratic socialist didn’t disappoint the Democratic Party’s hard left base, attacking the brave men and women at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for being agents of death.
The assault being so egregious that it prompted a stern response from former Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan.
With Democrats no longer making a moral distinction between those who enter the country legally and those who enter illegally, Ocasio-Cortez referenced the deaths of two migrant children to slam ICE for violating human rights — she ignores the fact that hundreds die every year making the dangerous trek across the southern border.
“The one thing the president has not talked about is the fact he has systematically engaged in the violation of… human rights on our border,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed. “He has separated children from their families.”
“The president should not be asking for more money to an agency that has systematically violated human rights,” the Democrat added. “The president should be really defending why we are funding such an agency at all, because right now, what we are seeing is death. Right now what we are seeing is the violation of human rights.”
For those keeping score at home, Ocasio-Cortez added to her growing list of really dumb things said when she claimed that Trump is “forcing” people to become illegal aliens so he can then attack them for being illegal aliens.
“He’s fighting against almost every way people can actually legally enter this country, forcing them to become undocumented,” she said, “and then he’s trying to attack their undocumented status. This is systematic. It is wrong. And anti-American.”
It was all enough for Homan to unload on the poorly-informed hard left socialist.
“You know, it’s I mean every time she opens her mouth she is wrong,” he said during an appearance Wednesday morning on “Fox & Friends.”
“Supposedly she went to college in Boston, she must be an embarrassment to that institution,” Homan added.
The former ICE official pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez was wrong in her assertion of the children dying in ICE custody, noting that they were in Border Patrol custody.
“They did everything they could do to save that child’s life, that child was in bad shape” Homan said. “You want to blame somebody for deaths in custody. Blame the Democrats that caused these loopholes that cause these families to come in the first place.”
“When you talk about human rights violations does she realize ice has arrested and removed hundreds of human rights violators in this country including Nazis and people that commit war crimes in certain parts of Europe?” he continued. “We actually arrest a lot of human rights violators.”
Homan also reminded Ocasio-Cortez of what ICE does for her own city.
“She ought to be saying thank, she is from New York,” he said. “ICE agents have arrested and removed thousands of criminals from the streets of New York that were released from sanctuary jails that she supports. So, a thank you would be nice rather than misinformation that she always puts out.”
