CNN host Don Lemon, who in recent weeks has transformed himself into an arbiter of all truth and morality, has responded to comedian Kevin Hart’s latest apology over allegedly anti-gay jokes he made nearly a decade ago.
In a statement made Monday evening on Hart’s eponymously titled “Straight From The Heart” SiriusXM radio show, the comedian apologized again for his jokes.
“I understand why people are hurt. I understand what these words mean. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” he said, adding that he didn’t know any better when he made the jokes back in 2009, 2010.
“We thought it was okay to talk like that, because that’s how we talked to one another. … Now we’re in a space where I’m around people of the LGBTQ community, and I’m now aware of how these words make them feel, and why they say, ‘That shit hurt because of what I’ve been through.’”
In response to the first part of Hart’s statement, Lemon conceded later that evening that it’s true not everybody is familiar with the alleged trauma that members of the LGBT community experience.
Listen:
“Many people grew up in situations where they might not come in contact with someone who is openly part of the LGBT community, but trust me you come in contact with people who’re gay but they just don’t tell you,” he said.
“And part of the reason they don’t is they fear the backlash, the stigma and what people will think or say about them, or they’ll be ostracized. Or people grow up hearing that it is wrong or sinful to be gay or transgender. And sometimes it’s a tough lesson.”
While that’s all true, there does appear to be a certain irony to Lemon’s remarks. He is after all among the far-left radicals who act as if there is something inherently sinful about being a man, a white person, a white man, a Christian, a conservative, a white person and/or, God forbid, a Trump supporter.
Many Americans are in fact afraid to admit their support for President Donald Trump, lest they be ostracized by the increasingly totalitarian and sometimes violent left.
Lemon then addressed the second part of Hart’s statement.
“I don’t like the forcing. I don’t like — Don lemon goes on CNN and he’s all like, ‘You can fix this, become an ally.’ That’s not my my life dream,” the comedian said, referring to a rant the CNN host delivered last week in which he tore into Hart for not being apologetic enough.
This did not appear to please the CNN host.
“He doesn’t want to be an ally of the LGBT community, that’s his right — whether I like it not not, whether you like it or not,” Lemon said. “There has been a lot of blowback, Kevin backed out from hosting the Oscars, and on some level you can understand for him that it feels like he is under attack. But I can tell you for me, as I relate to him, he’s not a victim.”
In the CNN host’s far-left worldview, only certain people can be victims. Ergo, those who are bullied, harassed, ostracized or even attacked by the far-left are just whiny bigots.
“So listen to what he’s saying there,” Lemon continued. “He wants to be accepted. He wants us to accept him. He wants to be embraced on his own merits. Isn’t that what the LGBT community wants?”
The evidence suggests that members of the LGBT community want to be judged solely by their sexuality, not their character, personality, skills or the lack thereof. Whenever a person of the LGBT community is criticized for something unrelated to his or her sexuality, for instance, the community invariably responds by accusing the person of being a homophobic bigot.
“Isn’t that the same thing they were asking for, to be embraced on their own merits and not be stereotyped and stigmatized?” Lemon added. “So maybe — right? An olive branch in an effort to understand.”
Listen:
It’s unclear why the CNN host remains so blind to his own hypocrisy.
Some of this hypocrisy was pointed out by social media users:
Lemon has said things just as bad and doesn’t ever apologize for them. And he completely ignored some of Hart’s true attempts to make things right. Talk about a hypocrite…

What a sanctimonious hypocrite Don Lemon is. He can trash our POTUS nightly, but God forbid Kevin Hart would tell a gay joke 10 years ago. Kevin Hart apologized 10 years ago and he apologized this week on @TheEllenShow But, noooo, that’s not good enough for Holier than thou Don

Talk about amazing bigotry and hypocrisy. Lemon has made many horrible statements and expects us to forgive him but he refuses to forgiven a Black man for what Hart says were mistakes made ages agohttps://t.co/zjqAAb3NeB

BS. It’s not Hart’s job to be a “social justice warrior”; he’s an entertainer, that’s his essence. The real hypocrisy is the cyber-bulling transgressors who make up less than 1% of the population and it’s time that is exposed and put down for its hypocrisy…
