Pelosi accuses Trump of ‘resisting’ facts HOURS after she reportedly shutdown Nielsen during security briefing

Nancy Pelosi blasted President Trump as being a know-nothing rube who ‘resists evidence’ less than 24 hours after she and Sen. Chuck Schumer reportedly prevented Homeland Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from presenting those pesky things called facts on border security.

Pelosi maintained in a Today Show interview that it’s hard to negotiate with the President because he “resists evidence, data, truth” when trying to “pinpoint him on facts.”

Pelosi reportedly behaved exactly the way she describes Trump during a briefing Wednesday in the Situation Room attended by the president, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Nielsen.

Though the president reportedly ordered Nielsen to present facts about the “security & humanitarian crisis” on the southern U.S. border, Pelosi refused to listen.

Multiple news agencies have confirmed that this indeed happened.

“Just seconds after Nielsen began her presentation … House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif cut in. Democrats redirected the conversation to how they planned to open the government once they take control of the House tomorrow,” NBC News reported.

Fox News obtained confirmation as well.

“Within five seconds, Chuck Schumer prompted Nancy Pelosi to cut Secretary Nielsen off, which he dutifully did within seconds. And then the entire presentation was basically over,” Fox News White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley revealed that afternoon.

Listen:

“I bet that the secretary probably said 50 words in the entire presentation, which tells you a couple things,” Gidley added. “One is that the Democrats didn’t know, didn’t believe and didn’t care about anything Secretary Nielsen had to say.”

Democrats like Pelosi specifically took issue with the facts that the DHS secretary tried to outline.

“Nielsen claimed that Customs and Border Protection had arrested 17,000 people with criminal records at the border. … Pelosi responded that it wasn’t true and the administration was counting anyone who crossed the border illegally as having a criminal record,” Bloomberg reported.

Pelosi cited no evidence to back up her claim against Nielsen, who as a reminder happens to be a government official in charge of managing the agency responsible for tracking all security issues.

The incoming House speaker’s behavior was odd given that all that Nielsen tried to share were some facts about the border crisis. And according to Pelosi, she and other Democrats love facts. In fact, according to her it’s the president and his “uneducated” supporters who hate facts.

Case in point: When asked during an NBC interview that aired Tuesday about the prospect of negotiating with Trump over border security, she said, “It’s hard to do that with the president because he resists science, evidence, data, truth. It’s hard to pin the president down on the facts.

Listen:

Yet when presented with actual facts from the government official in charge of one of the federal bureaucracy’s most powerful agencies, Pelosi suddenly grew entirely indifferent to facts.

This behavior — which is commonplace among the left — suggests that what Pelosi and her peers actually love are narratives, not facts. Namely, narratives that bolster their false worldview.

It’s partly why White House counselor Kellyanne Conway invented the term “alternative facts”: to poke fun at the liberal tendency to cite narratives (false narratives, to be exact) versus facts when trying to defend their oftentimes irrational and illogical policy prescriptions or arguments.

Speaking of which, the counselor had some thoughts about the Democrats’ behavior.

“Yesterday they just ignored and interrupted and were frankly just very rude and dismissive of our secretary of Homeland Security, our director of Customs and Border Patrol, our director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” she said to reporters Thursday.

“If we’re going to talk about bipartisanship in a democracy, a Washington that works, you just can’t ignore the facts and figures that somebody’s trying to present to you that’s coming from your own government. So, that was that was some really poor form.”

Their behavior was also hypocritical, as many pointed out to Pelosi on social media.
