While President Donald Trump spent the last moments of 2018 at the White House working, his wife reportedly spent it at the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

There she attended a lavish ball with other notables figures, including but not limited to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and diplomat Paolo Zampolli.

It’s unclear whether any other members of the Trump family also attended the ball.
The president meanwhile spent most of Monday reaching out to the American people on social media.
“I’m standing at the colonnade of the White House right next to the Oval Office, and I just want to wish you a very, very happy New Year. It’s going to be a great year. Complicated, but great,” he said in a video published Monday evening to the White House’s Twitter account.
“But I will tell you, there has never been an administration that’s done more than the Trump administration in the first two years in office,” he added, describing his admin’s accomplishments.
“Our economy is doing great. Wages are rising for the first in time many, many years. People are getting more money. They’re working one job instead of two or three.”
Listen to the full statement:
The president also posted a shorter video to his own personal Twitter account to wish the American people “a really, really happy New Year.”
“While I’m at the White House working, you’re out there partying tonight. But I don’t blame you. Enjoy yourselves. We’re going to have a great year. Have a really, really happy New Year,” he said.
Listen:
The response on social media was mixed. Conservatives reacted by wishing the president and his family a happy New Year in return, while liberals responded by hurling unnecessary invectives at not only the president but his immediate family as well.
Look at the conservative response below:
Happy New Year President @realDonaldTrump @FLOTUS Barron and the whole Trump family.

Now contrast that with the liberal response:
