President Donald Trump extended a cheerful New Year’s Eve greeting to the nation via social media Monday evening.
“While I’m at the White House working tonight, you’re out there partying. But I don’t blame you,” Trump said. “Enjoy yourselves, we’re going to have a great year. Have a really, really happy New Year!”

The president also tweeted on the border wall, holding true to his promise all along that Mexico “IS PAYING FOR THE WALL” through restructured trade deals.

At the same time, Trump rejected the Democratic Party’s latest talking point that a border wall is outdated and of little use.
“The Democrats will probably submit a Bill, being cute as always, which gives everything away but gives NOTHING to Border Security, namely the Wall. You see, without the Wall, there can be no Border Security – the Tech “stuff” is just, by comparison, meaningless bells & whistles…” he tweeted.
“…Remember this. Throughout the ages, some things NEVER get better and NEVER change. You have Walls and you have Wheels. It was ALWAYS that way and it will ALWAYS be that way! Please explain to the Democrats that there can NEVER be a replacement for a good old-fashioned WALL!”

In a tweet posted on New Years Day — in all caps — Trump promised that “great things” are happening for the US and that 2019 will be “fantastic” for those not suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

President Trump shared his hopes and goals for 2019 Monday night in an exclusive Fox News Channel interview.
Fox News host Pete Hegseth asked the president if he is planning to stand firm in his request for border wall funding.
“We have to have border security,” Trump said. “The wall is part of border security. I hear about the wall is old fashioned. It is not old fashioned, it is 100 percent foolproof. You look at the wheel, I guess they would say the wheel is old fashioned. It’s been around a long time. The wall is the only way to do it.”
As the interview came to a close, the president was asked if he had any predictions or resolutions for the coming year and Trump said that he sees “a great form of wealth” in 2019.
“We’ve created a lot of wealth for our country and that’s very important,” Trump said. “That means jobs, it means prosperity, it means we can afford to do what we’re doing with the military.”
When pressed on a New Year’s resolution, Trump responded with a rather selfless answer.
“Just success and prosperity and health for our country,” he said. “That’s all I want.”
