CNN and its hosts are not backing down even amid backlash over coverage of President Donald Trump’s surprise visit to U.S. service members in Iraq.
Don Lemon continued the tone-deaf attacks on the U.S. military and the commander-in-chief on Wednesday, accusing Trump of “politicizing a Christmas message” to the troops.
“He’s like the Grinch,” Lemon told CNN national security analyst, Samantha Vinograd.
The former Obama official agreed, saying, “He stole Christmas.”
So CNN is now labeling Trump as “the Grinch” who stole Christmas from the troops in Iraq.
This of course comes after they spent an entire day railing on Trump for not visiting troops during Christmastime (even though it turned out he had a scheduled trip to Iraq) pic.twitter.com/xWXnWSUyRC

Lemon slammed the president for not saying “this is not about me, it’s about the troops,” and for bringing “negativity” on the trip.
“Instead of being positive with the troops, saying, ‘this is about the troops, it’s not about me. I’m here to thank you for your service,’ whatever, even if reporters ask him questions. ‘This is not about me. This is about the troops, they serve out country well.’ Maybe he should have said, ‘it’s unfortunate that some of them are not getting paid and I wish they were,'” Lemon continued.
“It was so negative and so — you want positivity when it comes to Christmas. It is perplexing. Why would he visit the troops and do that?”
Vinograd smugly complained that the president should have stayed home.
“Well, Don, to be candid, I hope that this trip helped from a morale perspective. But from a national security perspective, for all the reasons that you just listed, the President should have stayed home,” she said.
This, of course, followed the network’s Trump-bashing that included a hit piece accusing the Iraq-stationed service members of violating Department of Defense guidelines by asking the president to sign their “Make America Great Again” hats.
Video footage and the written report of Trump’s visit with service members in Iraq showed signing of hats and a “Trump 2020” patch.
But troops’ requests for the autographs could brush up against Department of Defense guidelines for political activities. https://t.co/jUUqF91bcX

Totally lacking self-awareness, Lemon and his media colleagues slamming Trump as the Grinch had only to look at themselves to see who was really stealing Christmas.
So to summarize the last two days, the media went from…
“Trump becomes first president since 2002 not to visit troops at Christmastime”
⬇
“Trump only went to Iraq to visit troops after he got embarrassed”
⬇
“The troops were too excited and political when Trump showed up” pic.twitter.com/7st75mEp0a— Caleb Hull ???? (@CalebJHull) December 27, 2018
In the space of a few hours, the hypocritical left’s attacks on the president only served to prove Trump’s often stated criticisms about the “fake news” media that is the “enemy of the people.”
Twitter users slammed Lemon and the network for their advanced case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Did lemon drop just say President was negative while uttering every negative word he could think of, HYPOCRITE, GET BEHIND ME.

“He should have gone to Iraq to visit troops!”
“He should have stayed home instead of visiting our troops.”

@CNN this doesn’t look like he stole Xmas to me. https://t.co/G05SGZ22X9

The troops seemed happy to me lol

What is this weirdness? @donlemon isn’t even a parody of news. It’s leftist mindlessness dressed up as a news program. I don’t understand how anyone watches it.
— Western Republican (@WestRepub) December 27, 2018
Lemon is creating an impractical standard he would never hold against a Democrat president.

Maybe Don Lemon should visit the troops in Iraq. He could lecture them on how bad they are for having MAGA hats

I don’t remember anyone taking selfies with the grinch. ?♀️ pic.twitter.com/UMimkfBORb
