Beto upset with ICE for dropping hundreds of migrants off at El Paso bus station. Great photo-op, but did he offer his home?

Thanks to a never-ending influx of migrants and illegal immigrants across the unsecured U.S. southern border, and Democrat policies that limit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from holding migrants in extended custody, the agency has had to offload migrants in random communities.

Over 200 were released at a bus station in failed Texas senatorial nominee Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s community this Christmas Eve, spurring the congressman to show up with volunteers to provide the migrants with free housing, food, drink and medical care. It’s unclear who paid for these services.

Watch:

Newsweek notes that “[t]he practice” of dropping off migrants in random communities is “routine, as ICE processes those crossing the border to seek asylum and outfits them with an ankle bracelet and court date before releasing them at the bus station.”

This policy of catch-and-release exists because of Democrats and their media allies. A remnant of former President Barack Hussein Obama’s administration, current President Donald Trump faced intense media backlash after he tried to reverse it earlier this year.

Instead of releasing migrants, Trump sought to detain them in ICE facilities until their asylum claims were either approved or rejected. But because illegal immigrant children cannot be detained in adult facilities for longer than 20 days, they had to be separated and sent to their own facilities.

This separation — which also started under Obama — triggered so many fraudulent allegations of cruelty and inhumanity that the Trump administration eventually reversed it.

As a result, ICE has had no other recourse than to keep releasing migrants into random U.S. communities like Beto’s community in El Paso, Texas.

What angered Beto about the latest release was that ICE had failed to coordinate the release with his community. Instead, the agency just dropped the 200+ migrants off without warning.

“(ICE) admitted they had dropped the ball (Sunday) in not notifying the community they were going to release 214 people at the Greyhound station, and then told us we would be expecting 200 people today, which we are seeing,” he complained in the Facebook video below.

Yet in a statement on Twitter, the Democrat congressman seemed to also take issue with ICE not providing the migrants with taxpayer-funded food, drink and money.

“Hundreds of migrant families released onto the streets of El Paso on Christmas Eve, without food, money or help,” he kvetched.

Other far-left members of social media seem to feel similarly:

It’s unclear what makes them think the migrants are obligated to free services. It’s also not clear what else ICE could have done beyond providing a warning to the community in El Paso.

“To mitigate the risk of holding family units past the timeframe allotted to the government, ICE has curtailed reviews of post-release plans from families apprehended along the southwest border,” the agency said in a statement to CNN.

“ICE continues to work with local and state officials and (nongovernmental) partners in the area so they are prepared to provide assistance with transportation or other services.”

The left’s reaction to this debacle does provide another stark reminder of why it’s ideology is flawed. The left wants to expand the welfare state while also abolishing the nation’s borders.

Yet the left never takes the time to ask what would happen if the estimated 700 million men, women and children living in extreme poverty across the globe were to relocate to the U.S.

The country would go broke, and every family would crash into the abyss of poverty. That, in fact, is what invariably happens whenever a country treads down the path of socialism.
