Democrat Congressman Luis Gutierrez — a staunch advocate of illegal immigration — can’t defend his sketchy political stances, which is why he walked out immediately after haranguing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee.

Gutierrez sanctimoniously invoked Baby Jesus while arguing against the border wall, which millions of Americans support.

And before Donald Trump became president, many Democrats also supported a border wall and opposed illegal immigration. Gutierrez ranted at Nielsen:

“It is repugnant and astonishing to me that during Christmas…a time in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ — who had to flee for his life with Mary and Joseph — thank God there wasn’t a wall that stopped him from seeking refuge in Egypt.

Thank God that wall wasn’t there, and thank God there wasn’t an administration like this or he would have too have perished on the 28th, on the Day of Innocence, when [King] Herod ordered the murder of every [boy] under 2 years of age. Thank God.

Shame on everybody that separates children..Shame on us for wearing our badge of Christianity during Christmas and allow the Secretary to come here and lie.”

Gutierrez then walked out just when Secretary Nielsen started defending herself. Like many leftists, Luis Gutierrez is a snowflake. You know, the kind that attacks you on Twitter and then immediately blocks you as soon as you start to respond.

Many on Twitter took note of Gutierrez’s hypocrisy and sanctimony and torched him over his venomous tirade.

“There is no bigger moron in Congress than Rep. Luis Gutiérrez…In a cowardly attack, he calls Sec. Nielsen a ‘liar,’ then walks out when she is given the opportunity to respond to him.”

“Luis Gutierrez DARES to invoke the name of JESUS when he/his party support abortion until right before birth. JESUS followed the Laws of his day while here on earth.”

Richard Grenell — the US Ambassador to Germany — corrected Gutierrez, explaining that Jesus’ parents were not illegal immigrants trying to break the law.

“Actually, Mary and Joseph were complying with the government’s demand that everyone register for the census,” Ambassador Grenell explained.

Another Twitter user noted: “He also doesn’t know the true story when Baby Jesus was born! His parents did not flee, they weren’t refugees …they had to show up for the census.”

Gutierrez has a history of grandstanding to make headlines. In September 2017, Gutierrez was arrested in front of the Trump Tower in New York while protesting President Trump’s decision to end DACA.

The one silver lining to all this is that Luis Gutierrez isn’t running for re-election, so this is probably the last we’ll see of him in Congress.

His abrupt resignation took many by surprise, and fueled speculation that the reason why Gutierrez is stepping down is because the House Ethics Committee recently concluded that he had committed gross ethical violations.

As for the border wall, Americans should heed the advice of former Israeli mayor David Rubin, who urged the US to build the wall.

“Some of the Israeli left were complaining and even accusing the Israeli government of racism, but now, nobody is complaining,” Rubin said. “Everybody is happy that we don’t have illegal immigration.”
