President Donald Trump responded Thursday to the controversy surrounding a still gainfully employed MSNBC host’s use of a gay slur to attack a member of his administration by shining a spotlight on the media’s glaring double standards and hypocrisy.
“If it was a Conservative that said what ‘crazed’ Mika Brzezinski stated on her show yesterday, using a certain horrible term, that person would be banned permanently from television,” the president tweeted Thursday afternoon, referencing “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski.

Trump, who is often (wrongly) accused of being homophobic, also took the time to praise an openly gay member of his team, U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard A. Grenell for taking Brzezinski to task.
….She will probably be given a pass, despite their terrible ratings. Congratulations to @RichardGrenell, our great Ambassador to Germany, for having the courage to take this horrible issue on!

“[O]utrageous. This is totally unacceptable & deeply disturbing. Sexualizing gay people this way is designed to control them & minimize our worth,” Grenell tweeted Wednesday morning.

After Brzezinski issued a widely criticized non-apology apology, Grenell slammed her again.
Look:
accepting apologies is important. We all fail. But I don’t see that you’ve actually apologized to gays? Your words demean, mock and therefore try to control whole groups by minimizing our humanity. @morningmika https://t.co/whNqjHYjfn

During Wednesday’s edition of “Morning Joe,” Brzezinski derided CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s as “a wannabe dictator’s butt boy” because of his support for the president’s stance on Saudi Arabia.
“I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care, but why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now?” she said, expressing frustration over the Trump administration’s refusal to abandon one of its closest allies in the Middle East over the country’s alleged murder of a journalist linked to terrorism.
“Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on ‘Fox and Friends,’ is that a patriot speaking or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy?” she then asked. “And I’m dead serious, I’m asking, are these the words of a patriot?”
Listen:
Whether Brzezinski will be given a pass remains unclear, though as of Thursday afternoon she still reportedly remained gainfully employed with MSNBC, a far-left network home to the likes of known antisemite Al Sharpton and known anti-white racist Joy Reid.
What appears to be different this time is that many in the left-wing media have turned against Brzezinski, including David Folkenflik of NPR and Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept.
This is bad. Will require more from Brzezinski than a Twitterpology. https://t.co/GoTKn23wrl

Homophobic insults of the kind vomited out this morning by @morningmika have become a completely common and acceptable component of anti-Trump discourse, starting from the endless Trump/Putin gay insinuations to trash like this. pic.twitter.com/ddorYI3AYV

Will this be enough to spur the MSNBC co-host’s removal? That remains unknown, though according to her husband, co-host Joe Scarborough, for now she’s taken off for a one-day family event.
“Mika has the day with her family, a long planned family event,” he said Thursday. “She’s sorry she’s not here, cause we’re going to be talking about baseball most of the morning. She’ll be back with us tomorrow.”

It’s unclear why he himself isn’t considered a part of “her family,” given as he’s her husband.
Nevertheless, the president’s not the only one irritated by Brzezinski’s continued employment.
Look:
Perfect example of a double standard. One party is allowed to say anything while another is criticized over every word. Fire her now or face more fake news taunts. Disgusting comment Mika! You didn’t even come in on supposed day off to personally apologize.

Mika Brzezinski is a bubble head! And yes if a conservative would have made that statement about a liberal the mainstream media would have gone nuts about it for a month. There is a distinct double standard and this will be another point to prove it.

Mika must be fired. Hold Mika and Joy Reid to the same standards they have held everyone else to. Stop excepting double standards. If anyone else had done what these two have done, both would have demanded you be fired.
— Lyla Joy Rose (@LylajoyRose) December 13, 2018
Just pointing out the double standard and hypocrisy of you bleeding heart liberal idiots if Hannity called somebody but boy he would be fired. Mika a says it and she gets a paid vacation and a raise and a strap-on
— andyman (@shomer420) December 13, 2018
Double standard strikes again with hypocrisy and hate thrown in by Mika on another rant.

Kevin Hart apologized And still got canned. Is it because Mika’s White ?
— Earpie (@Cannovis) December 13, 2018
Comedian Kevin Hart was effectively ousted earlier this month from his role as the host of the upcoming Oscars because of homophobic jokes he made almost a decade ago. Unlike Brzezinski, the comedian apologized for his behavior.
