You’d never know it based on the relentlessly negative coverage of President Donald Trump, but the American people approve of his performance by a substantially larger clip than they did his predecessor at the same point in his presidency.
With the media obsessed with special counsel Robert Mueller and his never-ending Russian collusion probe, Rasmussen reported Tuesday that the president’s approval numbers easily trump those of President Barack Obama two years in.

Rasmussen’s daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Trump has 49 percent approval among Likely U.S. Voters, with 49 percent disapproving of him.
Those who strongly disapprove of Trump outnumbered those who strongly approve, 36 – 39 percent, giving him a Presidential Approval Index of -3.
At the same point in his presidency, Dec. 11, 2010, Obama had a 46 percent approval, compared to a 53 percent disapproval.
Which means Trump has a 3 percent higher approval rating than Obama, who has a 4 percent higher disapproval rating.
And the media had a slobbering love affair with Obama, who was often referred to as the left’s “Messiah.” A man who allegedly had a “scandal-free” presidency.
Even Obama said so earlier this year during a speech at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Saying “there wasn’t anything venal in eight years,” Obama declared, “We didn’t have a scandal that embarrassed us.”
At least, not that the media dwelled on.
On the other hand, Media Research Center did a study that showed “92% of stories on Donald Trump are negative.”
The analysis looked at 1,007 evening news stories about the Trump administration on ABC, CBS and NBC from June 1 to September 30 — that’s 1,960 minutes of airtime.
Couple that with scant coverage of a booming economy.
MRC’s study showed less than 1 percent of the coverage was on the economy — just 14 minutes over a four-month period.
All in all, it’s almost scary to wonder what Trump’s approval numbers might be if the media treated him the way they treated Obama.
