Bongino explodes over church’s ‘immigration Nativity’ scene: ‘Can we just leave Baby Jesus alone?’

A nativity scene erected this Christmas season by a Massachusetts church known for its political stunts has put a controversial left-wing twist on an age-old biblical scene.

Instead of featuring the three Wise Men visiting Baby Jesus in the dead of night, Saint Susanna’s Parish’s nativity scene depicts Baby Jesus trapped in a cage and the Wise Men separated from him by a wall. Why? To protest the child separation scam.

“When the people were seeking refuge in a safe place, our government was separating families from their children. It doesn’t seem to be the message of the person whose birth we celebrate,” Fr. Joseph Josoma said to local station WSVB.

Earlier this year the Trump administration briefly separated illegal immigrant children from their parents as per an Obama-era policy. The separations had been permitted in part because without them, immigration authorities would have been forced to release illegal families into the U.S.

“The refugee problem, it’s all over the world. The number is 65 million people, either internally displaced or in refugee camps,” parishioner Pat Ferrone added.

And apparently, both she and Josoma believe it’s America’s obligation to import every needy refugee, migrant and illegal immigrant into the country.

While the pros and cons of such ideas certainly remain up for debate, many argue that these debates shouldn’t be occurring at church.

“This is where you come to pray. This is not where you come to be preached at about what you should think about politics,” one local said to station WBZ

Included among the detractors is conservative commentator Dan Bongino, who has a message for churches who “exploit” nativity scenes to promote Democrat talking points: “Leave Baby Jesus alone!”

“Liberals, do you have to be a blowtorch to everything?” he asked incredulously during a discussion Wednesday evening with Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

“They’ve destroyed Halloween. “Halloween now — every costume, every parent has to worry if it’s cultural appropriation. You couldn’t wear the Black Panther costume apparently if your kid wasn’t black. This was an actual controversial. They blew up Thanksgiving for colonialism or whatever.”

“Can we just leave Baby Jesus alone?” he furiously added. “Friends don’t let friends mess with Baby Jesus. Just leave Baby Jesus alone. Let us enjoy Christmas. I’m begging you. Just give us one holiday.”

Some parishioners appear unfazed by the criticism and have argued Jesus himself had been political.

“Christ was political. He was hung on a cross for making political statements and bucking the authority, and that’s exactly why he died,” parishioner Phil Mandeville said.

What remains unclear but many social media would like to know is whether the church ever erected a similar nativity scene during former President Barack Obama’s time in office.

Look:

Last year Saint Susanna’s Parish’s reportedly put up a nativity scene that depicted the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. Again it’s unclear whether the church took a similar stand vis-a-vis the fourteen mass shootings that occurred during the Obama era.
