“The Boss” has weighed in and he sees President Donald Trump being reelected to a second term in the White House.
Bruce Springsteen, a raging liberal who appeared on the campaign trail in support of Hillary Clinton in 2016, told The Sunday Times Magazine that there is no one on the horizon who can beat the president.
“I don’t see anyone out there at the moment… the man who can beat Trump, or the woman who can beat Trump,” the iconic 69-year-old rocker said.
Netflix will soon debut “Springsteen on Broadway,” with the musician taking his highly successful one-man Broadway show to the streaming service and he has been making the rounds plugging the show.
Springsteen, billed as a “blue collar rocker” by The Times, acknowledged that the president has a way about himself when it comes to winning over working-class voters, who make up much of his fan base.
“In short, Trump was born to run, and may be unstoppable,” The Times noted.
Springsteen pointed to the growth of technology to say working class folks see America as a country they don’t “feel part of” anymore, feeling as if they are “being dismissed.” This being a familiar refrain from Democrats, post Obama.
Staying true to the script, he then implied that Trump a racist.
“Add to that, someone comes in and plays on your racial anxieties, and blames an enormous amount of this on the ‘other’ from the southern side of the border, and you’re going to have an audience for those views,” he said.
But Springsteen, who has opened up recently about facing mental health challenges over the years, is a true sufferer of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“[Trump] has no interest in uniting the country, really, and actually has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us, which he does on an almost daily basis,” the rocker recently told Esquire magazine. “So that’s simply a crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned. It’s an awful, awful message to send out into the world if you’re in that job and in that position. It’s just an ugly, awful message.”
“It’s a scary moment for any conscientious American, I think,” he added.
This from a man who campaigned for Barack Obama, perhaps the most divisive president we have seen since Richard Nixon. But he told Esquire too that he does not see a liberal messiah emerging.
“I do believe we’ll survive Trump,” Springsteen predicted. “But I don’t know if I see a unifying figure on the horizon. That worries me. Because the partisanship and the country being split down the middle is something that’s gravely dangerous.”
It may not behalf as worrisome as a society that routinely looks to those who can sing, act or tell a joke as the nation’s moral compass.
