Melania Trump reveals sneak peak of the 2018 White House Christmas decorations

First lady Melania Trump provided the American people with a sneak glimpse of this year’s White House Christmas decorations in a tweet she shared Saturday afternoon.

“Thank you to all the volunteers from across our great nation who are working hard to decorate the @whitehouse. Can’t wait to view it all tomorrow night! #ChristmasattheWhiteHouse,” she tweeted, suggesting she may perform an official unveiling Sunday night.

The first lady began prepping the White House for Christmas in August, when she announced she was looking for musicians, entertainers and volunteers for this year’s festivities.

It took over 150 volunteers over 1,600 hours to piece together last year’s decorations, which included 71 wreaths, 53 Christmas trees and 18,000+ lights. Chosen by Trump, the decorations were designed to fit her “Time-Honored Traditions” theme.

Take a look at last year’s decorations below:

The first glimpses of White House’s 2017 decorations appeared around this very same time last year. In fact, Trump published the video above on Nov. 27, 2017. Chances are therefore very high that she’ll be publishing a video for this year’s decorations sometime soon.

What remains unclear is what this year’s theme happens to be. Take a look at some larger versions of the photos Trump included in her tweet below, and see if you can figure it out.

This year’s Christmas tree was delivered earlier this month.

“On Monday, November 19, President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump participated in the arrival of the White House Christmas tree!” the White House announced.

“Mr. Larry Smith, winner of the National Christmas Tree Contest, presented the prizewinning tree—all the way from Mountain Top Fraser Fir in Newland, North Carolina—to the President and First Lady at the North Portico of the White House.”

Watch the arrival of the tree below:

This year’s White House tree lighting ceremony is slated to occur Nov. 28 and will feature musical performances by country singer Abby Anderson, country duos LoCash and Thompson Square, Irish tenor Anthony Kearns, American pianist Paul Cardall, former “American Idol” contestant Gabby Garrett, the American, former “The Voice” contestant Spensha Baker, Christian artist Matthew West, Dominican Sisters of Mary and the U.S. Army’s Band “Perishing’s Own.”

It’s a 95-year-old ceremony that began with President Calvin Coolidge in 1923 and will continue this year with President Donald Trump. The ceremony doesn’t involve the same tree seen above.

“The National Christmas Tree is a living Colorado blue spruce from Virginia, which can be seen year-round in President’s Park,” the National Park Foundation noted in a statement.

Footage from last year’s ceremony may be seen below:

Regarding the first lady’s tweet Saturday, it actually received more positive responses than negative ones, which was surprising given the amount of hate she usually receives.

“I’m sure it’s going to be breathtaking. I wish @FoxNews would do a Christmas ? Tour of our @WhiteHouse with you! It would be historical and magical!” the top-voted reply reads.
